"You won't last."
That voice echoed into her ears from behind her, and although she worked to ignore all that he was saying to her, Those specific words hit the back of her head like a pile of bricks.
Aila pulled herself away from the large bag of luggage she had been packing for herself and headed to the desk covered with small trinkets. her music box, her necklaces, bracelets, and small collectibles she has found here and there. She pulled her arm across the desks, shoving all the objects into a box to put into the luggage too.
The voice at the doorway repeated himself, this time having Aila reply.
"But i WANT to... no take backs on bets. Traveling with be a piece of super chocolaty cake... and for every world traveled to 100 Muney."
"You are crazy."
"Save up your Muney because I'll want it all at once."
She finished her packing, the room that was once hers now completely empty. She pulled it off the bed and onto the floor with a loud thud. Before heading out of the room and down the stairs.
"Come on Aila, just pay up this time instead of being defeated miserably and being found dead in some weird world. Your doing it all wrong anyway. WHO takes everything they own with them."
"me! that's one... that couple down the street."
"They were moving two block away not traveling that's different Aila."
"NOT to the point."Aila finished the conversation with a goodbye and left the house.

-----------------------------------
Present
Aila stumbled backwards, though trying to catch her balance ended up falling onto the stone street. The interior of her luggage spew everywhere around her as her suitcase had been thrown at her. She sat on the stone ground of traverse town, in front of her the owner of the inn she had chosen to reside in due to their inexpensiveness yelled about payment and money and for her to never come back.

Aila pulled herself up from the cold ground, dust and mu now caked onto her boots and pants. "Well maybe i didn't want to stay at your dingy smelly inn anyway." She yelled back at him. The Inn Keeper disappeared for a split second before returning with a chair and chucked it at her. Aila ducked to the side to avoid the chair and fell backwards again.

As the innkeeper returned to the building and slammed the door behind him. Aila was left to clean up the mess around her. she began to pick up the multiple trinkets and object and put them into the case. a bunch of stuff was missing. But the idea of another chair at her face was not interesting. Instead she placed all of her items into the case and headed off.

People were staring, and it was extremely embarrassing. This was definitely not her finest moment in life. Her cloths were a mess, she was dirty, hungry. Her cotton candy blue and pink hair had major bedhead. yet that only being due to being asleep just before getting kicked out.
In actuality nothing was working out, she was on the last of the Muney she had taken with her. And could already taste the taste of defeat. Tonight migh be the first night of Many to be sleeping outside.

Aila dragged along the luggage, In her hand she inspected a small music box that had been given to her by one of her old neighbors, the elderly woman that smelt funny. Small, wooden wit decorative flowers inlaid.

Aila looked up, a little ways away settled a small store. She could sell stuff, all of her little trinkets and items and almost all her cloths. Maybe it would get her enough muney for a couple days, till she finds another money making scheme.

Aila entered into the small dingy store, its musk of oldness attacking her. It smelt like her smelly old neighbor... the trinkets would fit in well.

The rest started out easy, she sold all the small object that she had in her luggage and then her luggage case to a short balding man across the counter that smelt like feet. In her mind she saw each memory of when she got the presents, and felt a little sense of loss in their selling. She could almost hear the "I told you so from the people back home."

As she finished of selling her lively hood she decided to take count of what she had sold. She was missing the small music box she had been holding. "JELLYFISH" she yelled in replace of what ever curse word that could be used. "I just had it. That one small music box." She looked upwards to the man who smelled like feet. "My apologies... I'll be back later if i find it. Sorry for my language." Aila grabbed the Muney she earned from selling all the other objects and turned on her heels to the outside of the store to search for the last trinket.

Sylfaen walked down the crowded cobbled street of traverse town, her long heavy cloak billowing out behind her. Weaving in and out of the tightly knitted crowd, she searched the people for a suitable candidate to steal from. True, she could just steal from anyone she wanted, but she perfered to do her thievery on those who tended to have more money than they needed (aka. the wealthier ones). Being fairly poor herself and disliking it, she avoided those who already may be suffering as it was. Soon she picked out a perfect target, a man who was quite formally dressed for the night, he had just come out of a nearby bar and had began to walk in the opposite direction as her. Slipping through the spaces in the crowd Sylfaen began to make her way towards her target, preparing to 'accidentally' bump into them and cut off their coinpurse unnoticed. Suddenly something caught her foot as she appoached him, causing her to stumble and miss her chance. The man continued walking past, oblivious to the half-demon who was about to rob him. The object that had tripped her skittered forwards into the crowd, dissappearing from view.
The object made a low, hollow sound as it slid, which piqued her interest as to what it was that was dropped on the ground. Following the direction that it headed, she pushed through a small group of people to find it laying before her. It apeared to be a box of some sort, so she bent over to pick it up in order to inspect it further. It was an ornate box made of a heavy dark wood, and the lid was inlaid with small, dainty flowers made of mother-of-pearl. Opening the lid she saw that the inside was covered in pink silk, and aparently was a music box that could be used to hold jewlery. Closing the lid she turned the box over and in the corner of one of the boxes small legs was a tiny krank key. Curiosity getting the best of her once again she turned the key a couple times, then flipped the box over again to open the lid. A soft, gentle melody drifted out of the box that was sweet, yet at the same time could be considered somewhat creepy. Sylfaen's long ears twitched underneath her hood, and she felt her eyes dialate as a scene appeared in her head.

~she was in a dark room, and by the decorations she seemed to be in a nursery of some sort. Everything was taller and bigger than her, and before her was a babys bassinette. A black mobile above turned slowly, and a dark lullaby emanated from it. Suddenly a loud and akward skwak came from inside the bassinette, which hurt her ears greatly. walking over to the side, she hoisted herself up onto her tiptoes and peered over the edge. Inside lay a newborn baby girl. Clearly she was not human... or at least fully human. She had snow white hair, and tiny little bat wings flapped helplessly from her back as she squirmed around restlessly. Setting herself back down on the ground Sylfaen suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning her head she saw a tall man with three sets of folded wings and almost floorlength black hair. For some reason she couldnt see his face, but he bagan to speak to her.
"her name is Shana. She is your new sister...." ~

Sylfaen shook her head roughly and blinked multiple times to bring her attention back to the box in her hands. the song had ended, so she tossed the thought aside for now and snapped the lid shut. By inspecting it she figured that it would be worth some decent munny, so she decided to pawn it. Starting back down the street, she headed for the nearest pawn shop. For some reason she had developed a major headache from that little spell, and decided it would be best to turn in early after she turned the in box, and mabey a grabed drink to help her sleep. Approaching the store, she was about to open the door when it flew open and someone hurredly rammed into her.

It was the last thing she expected of course. She had taken the last few steps of the store in large bounds and basically threw her weight, leaving the store with such exertion as to then become unable to stop herself from colliding with another person that was going to head into the store. She had never expected such a dingy place to have more than one customer a day. Aila put her arms up in the impact and pushed away with her elbows as she tried to steady herself so that she wouldn't fall backwards once again and put her behind through more unneeded trauma with the cold stone street. She took a couple steps backwards to make distance with the person and only too small glimpse of whoever it was thatshe had ran into.

"Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry."She repeatedly apologized, but was to busy to properly atone for her clumsiness. She was to distracted by the task now at hand. Worried someone may pick it up and disappeared somewhere. Aila spun quickly to head back the way she came, her eyes permanently concentrated on the ground searching, this leading to a clumsy form of walk as she continuously kept bumping into person after person on the street. while in her head she was trying to remember where she had even dropped the box. She only remembers looking at it and coming up with the idea that is would be a good idea of selling it. But when did it ever leave her hand?

It wasn't until after she had headed down the street and had turned a corner to a street away from the pawn shop that she stopped. She was then realizing exactly what she saw when she collided into the stranger outside of the pawnshop. And Well... it was.... a stranger of course. But Aila began to remember back to find that the person she saw in question was way too different in her head that she must have been making something up, her mind had always seemed to do that anyway. Aila walked backwards a couple steps, annoying a couple more pedestrians as they had to swerve the odd teenager. She peered her head around the corned again to down the street in to stare.

It was what she remembered running into. Not something her mind had done to play a trick on her. Heading into the pawnshop had been a figure that Aila couldn't seem to make out due to the fact that it wore such a large old cape that covered the entire body. The hood had been pulled up and created a veil of shadow so as to not allow anyone to see the face. Yet when bumping into the person Aila remember noticing a touch of red and black hair.

The internal fight was on... something about the stranger immediately told Aila to back off and go find your trinket, but she was curious. She wanted to see what was under the hood that had to be hidden. Or why a person like that had headed to a pawn shop too? The urge was just to Strong. And Aila soon found herself with her nose against the window of the pawn shop, trying to look through the dust and grim of the glass to the people inside.

The person began to apologise repeatedly after stumbling backwards, then proceeded to dart out of the store. Catching a glimpse of the person sylfaen saw that they were at least younger than her, had pink hair and was covered in mud.
~spaz~she thought as she watched the mud covered teen sprint around the corner out of sight.
Proceeding to the counter, the shopkeep looked up from the newly aquired inventory he held in his hands to see who else had entered his small store. Upon seeing the cloak, his mouth spread into a mischevous smile.
" back again are yeh ?" he said "whatcha got fer me this time?"

Sylfaen pulled out the small music box out from under her cloak and set it on the counter infront of the man.
"how much will you give me for this?"
the storekeep picked up the box and began to inspect it like she had only minutes before. While still looking at it he asked her a question.
"whered ya find this?"
"street. does it really matter?"
"well, girl that was just in here said something about losing a music box on the way here. its probably hers."
"i dont care. now how much will you give me for it?"
"you know, you come in here so often, when are you ever gunna tell me yer name?"
"how about when hell freezes over?" she spat at him.
he let out a sigh, then turned to go into the back room and retrieve the munney without another word. Turning around the half-demon let out an impatient sigh and began to rub her temples to try and ease the pain of her headache. The storekeep returned to the front of the store with a puch full of munny and placed it on the counter.
"thanks." she said, grabbing the pouch and stashing it inside her cloak
"its a pretty little thing, wonder why that kid wanted to sell it..."
the storekeep turned the box over and began to turn the key on the bottom when sylfan suddenly slaped her hand over his to stop him.
"id rather you didnt , damn thing already gave me a killer headache..."
he stared at her strangely before she removed her hand and turned to leave. As she exited the store she looked around the street for any guards. she knew she didnt have to, but it had become habit. out of the corner of her eye she noticed the girl from before standing next to the store window and staring at her sheepishly.
~what a weird kid...~
turning in the opposite direction, Sylfaen swiftly began to head home before the kid could start claiming that she stole her stupid music box.

With her nose pressed to the window of the store. Aila watched the multiple reactions to the strange cloaked being. In the beginning there seemed to be a instant familiarity along with little communication. Aila pressed her face closer to the glass in hopes of being able to hear the conversations that went on. But nothing came to her ear.

The shopkeeper had smiled when she had come in. Yet Aila watched as his smile faded as the cloaked figure placed a small object onto the counter. The man's face was replaced with a look of professionalism as he inspected it.
Aila looked closer at it as well, seeing what the stranger was selling. And found herself in shock.

It was HER music box... The one she lost and was trying to sell for money. this stranger was selling HER stuff.

Aila had thought she had saw the shop keep look up from his conversation with the stranger to where Aila had her face against the window. Aila ducked down, crunching down into a ball beneath the window as to not be seen. But now she was unable to see what was happening inside the store. Mumbles from pedestrians passing her talked about "That crazy girl."

The small jingle from the bell above the store door signaled the stranger was leaving. Aila stood up in shock and stood back a little. She looked to the stranger. now with a better look, she found her unnerving, and unable to show how mad she was over the fact that she was nervous from this stranger. Her hood definitely shadowed everything, no feature of this person could be seen, yet Aila was sure if she looked closer she would be able to make out SOME form of face... maybe.

The stranger stood and stared at her for a couple seconds before turning in the opposite direction. Aila calmed down a realised she had been holding her breath as soon as the stranger had exited the store. She immediately started breathing again. Reminding herself in her head that she was being."Abnormally crazy stupid ". She still has stuff to do. Not important stuff. But she wasn't letting that stranger sell her stuff and not hear it from her. That was officially Aila's plan as she began to follow the stranger down the streets.

Continuing down the street The half demon headed towards the nearest bar to grab a quick drink. As she walked she pondered what the scene in her head was that appeared when she heard the music box. First she wondered if she was psycic or something, but after piling up evidenceagainst it in her mind, eliminated it from the list. She now tood outside the bar, which happened to be even more dingy and run down than the ones she normally frequented. Grimacing slightly, she pushed open the door and entered. The inside of the building was filthy, and smelled terrible, she definately wasnt going to be staying here long. grabbing a table near one of the back corners as usual, she sat down and orderd a lone glass of wine from the barmaid. as she waited for her to return her thoughts turned once again on the scene. was it possibly... a memory? she thought about it from every possible view, and it was.. the most logical. if it were indeed a memory, then it raised about a hundred new questions. the barmaid returned and placed the glass of wine in front of her. she shook her head to clear her mind of the many questions and turned her attention on the glass before her. She had never really seen the crimson red of the wine before becaus eshe had always ordered a bottle of it, and of course, the bottles were always green. as she stared at it another image popped into her mind

~ there was blood everywhere, it drenched everything and she was covered in it. She felt strangely ecstatic~

she shook her hed roughly and began to down the wine. what the hell was up with all these flashbacks tonight?

Aila decided to to follow the stranger at a distance. Trying to keep in stride as to not loose sight of them. She didn't know exactly what she would do once she confronted the stranger on her thievery. She will work on that when the time comes.
The problem with this situation become more clearer the farther throughout the town Aila followed. She continuously followed deeper into sections that were unfamiliar and unfriendly to Aila's eyes.
She decided it would be best to head back... forget about the music box. Turning her head she also found this idea impossible. She was lost.. completely and utterly lost. And to keep from staying lost. Aila once again kept following the stranger. Knowing only that this person is the person of the two of them who knew where she was going.
The stranger entered a building, something Aila crossed her fingers to be a safe haven. Only to rush in and see that it was no better than the outside. She looked across the room, at the mess tables and dirty, vomit smelling floors and the drunkards scattered her and there. One look and she took steps quickly backwards and back outside.
She decided to return to creeping at the window this time shifting her back as to not face the open and untrustworthy street. Taking her coat sleeve and rubbing it in circles over the dirty glass to create a hole in the muck to look her face through into the bar. Where the person she had followed had settled in back corner.

"Now all i have to do it wait for them to leave..." She looked over her shoulder "fast i hope"

Sylfaen downed half the glass, then put her hand to her forehead. Her headache had gotten worse than it was before, and really she was ready to just pass out. She sat still for a long while, then let out a sigh and looked up around the crapshack called a bar. she looked over the drunken, dirty people at the tables, and the grime covered lights on the ceiling. moving her gaze back to the glass in her hand, she brought it to her lips to finish off the crimson liquid; but something caught her eye. looking forwards she had a clear view of the window, and from it a pink haired teen was glancing through it at her. Almost immediately her anger and frustration surged, and she could feel a vein begin throbbing in her forehead. She finished the wine in one gulp and slammed the munny on the table to pay for it. She had to get rid of this stupid kid before she went whining to the authorities, or even worse, began to follow her everywhere watching her every move. then she would be in real shit. Pushing herself out of the chair she stormed to the door, pissed that this stupid runt had followed her. Lifting her foot she kicked the door as hard as she could, causing the rotted wood to break under the force. Turning the corner and approaching the teen she reached inside her cloak.

"you want it that friggin bad that youre wiling to follow me halfway around town for it?! fine! just take the damn money! it wasnt even that much anyway.!" Sylfaen pulled out the bag of munney the pawnbroker gave her for the music box and chucked it at the girl "now get out of my sight." Waving a hand at the girl, the half -demon turned around and started for home.

The stranger had looked up to the window, and had spotted Aila. Aila freaked and took a couple steps away from the window. But she could still see in to where the person had stood up and was heading towards the door as quick as possible. Aila freaked out more, this stranger was a stranger of course. And from her previous experiences from strangers in this town they were not friendly at all towards her. This person might throw another chair at her... OR worse!

She Jumped back as the door to the building opened and the stranger exited to look at her. 'don't kill me don't kill me don't kill me don't kill me don't kill me don't kill me don't kill me.' was all that was going through her head.

"you want it that friggin bad that you re wiling to follow me halfway around town for it?! fine! just take the damn money! it wasn't even that much anyway.!" the stranger took out the bag of Munny and had chucked it at her. Aila was shocked but caught the bag any way. Looking in to see a small amount of Munny inside. "now get out of my sight." The stranger turned and left.

Aila continued to look at the Munny, she had just been given Munny. It was originally suppose to be her munny anyway but she had forget about that by now. And there it was, a bag with Munny. Some random stranger handed her Munny, and NICE stranger had given her munny while Aila was so deep down on her luck. The Nicest person she has met so far in this place.

Aila then realized for a second or third time that she was still in fact lost. She looked up at the strange dark buildings and the questionable people lining the dark streets. She was definitely lost and the Munny she just gain won't last long in an area like this.

'The could be okay just to ask the Stranger for help.' Aila thought, 'After all she did give me some Munny I'm sure she is nice enough to help me find a way out of here'

Thinking her idea fool proof. She followed the stranger once again down the streets once again

Sylfaen stormed down the street; she had just lost some much needed munney to some stupid looking runt who couldnt just f**k off. After turning down a few streets and into an alley she used for a shortcut, a sharp pain shot through her forhead, causing her to stop and grab her forehad by the temples. As she stopped walking, she heard a couple of quiet, wavering footsteps behind her. turning around to face the busy street, she once again saw the pink haired teen, sheepishly staring at her from around the corner. For the second time that night the half demons anger surged.
~goddammit. why the hell can't this fucking kid get the damn point already?!~
Sylfaen began to storm towards the kid, reaching inside her cloak for what would hopefully scare her off for good. Quickly she was before the girl, and the half demon grabbed her by the front of her shirt. Pulling out her large dagger she held it to the teens neck while bending in close enough so that the bottom part of her face would be visible. Sylfaen clenched her teeth, revealing her pointed pearlies before laying into her.

"listen you little shit. i dont know what your problem is, but i told you to beat it. so i suggest you do just that before your body ends up in a dumpster in a backalley." she growled menacingly.

The stragner had turned the corner.. Aila was still being carefull.. no matter how nice the person who gave her money was. instead of rushing around the corner she peered around the wall edge to watch the person. She didn't know what she wanted... First of all she was scared or this stranger, not knowing who this person was or what she looked like. But she felt this person must be nice and she wanted the person to realise Aila was still their and for her to wait up.

The person stopped and turned to spot Aila. Aila froze up. Unable to make a decision. and her fear consumed her. The person rushed forward, lifting her by her shirt so aila was on her toes and placing a dagger to her throat. And aila now could see apart of the face of the person she was following. Including terrifying teeth
~~Oh god oh god oh god... not nice person not nice person not nice person!~~

The woman growlled at her face. saying words Aila couldn't hear since her thoughts were freaking out. The person said something about a dumpster and back alley. Her thoughts yelled louder. Her brain broke...

Aila felt her face become all red and tears began flowing down her cheeks and she began hyperventilating and rambling "I'm sorry sorry sorry sorry... it's just i'm new here and i was kicked out of my place and a man threw a chair at me and the ground was hard and i sold my stuff and then i lost my stuff and then you found my stuff and then YOU sold my stuff and then i though maybe i cold get a cut since its mine and i was always told the finders keepers rule doesn't aply in real life but if it does it okay you can have the money but i followed you here and then found out i'm lost and you gave me money so i though 'hey this person might not be so bad and then i followed you to stopp being lost and then you came at me and now i'm here with you and this dagger to my throught and i'm really scared and i probably look like the biggest pansy in the history of pansies..." Aila sobbed and mumbbled and talked in a high octive voice that would freak out any animal. miserable at where she was and what she was doing and wishes to go home and kick her brother's but for making this bet.

Sylfaen was taken aback from the girls reaction- she had no backbone whatsoever, and in truth, it was pathetic to watch her break down like this. The pitch at which her voice had risen to began to drive the half demon nuts, causing her to drop the pink haired teen to the ground.

shut up. she spat before putting her dagger back to its hiding place. sylfaen stared at the blubbering teen on the ground for a moment. her headace was now unbarable, so she put her hand to her forehead once again.

whats your name? she demeanded quickly. you say you have no place?

aila collapsed onto the ground when the stranger dropped her. She was getting way to familiar with the feel of the stone ground beneath her. She coughed and wheezed and tried to stop the constant sobbing that she was doing.

the stranger told her to shut up, and aila confirmed the stranger to be female from the voice. But that still did nothing for giving Aila any form of reassurance that she wouldn't be found face down dead in moogle droppings.

the woman spoke again, her voice still making aila's flinch " Whats your name? You say you have no place to stay"

once again Aila overflowed with excessive gibberish"My name is Aila Treadwind and i'm traveling because on a stupid bet and yes i have no place to stay because i ran out of money and the inn owner wouldn't let me do dishes and work for a place to stay and he kicked me out and threw a chair at me and if i ever saw him again i would still probably owe him money because he is a big fat jerk!" aila went on and on once more, unable to stop herself from speaking. trying to calm herself down.

shut up! sylfaen barked at her.she was sick of this girls ramblings already. god you talk too much!

she knew she was going to regret this, deeply, but she wanted to go home, and she didnt want to leave this kid in the same situation that she was once faced with.
get up. she said to the girl- aila, this time with a much softer voice. she was too weary to be angry now. she continued walking to the end of the alley like nothing had happened, then tured around to look at aila. you coming or what?
