Kairi sat up in bed, knees to her chin in the middle of the night. Next to her, Roxas slept peacefully, unknowing as to her insomnia. She had never been able to sleep through thunderstorms. They always woke her, and she could never find herself falling back asleep.

The princess looked over at the sleeping blonde teen. She smiled softly, she wanted company, but couldn't bear to wake him. He looked almost too peaceful, and Kairi loved the way his spikey blonde hair was strewn across the pillow next to hers.

A spark of lightning lit up the sky. Kairi started to count: "One... two..." The thunder crashed, and she hid her face in her knees as it went off. Another crash errupted through the hallways of the dark castle. Kairi lifted her head.

"That wasn't thunder," she whispered to herself. Another sound similar to the one unlike the thunder outside her windows went off. Confused, Kairi slid the covers off her bare legs and swung her legs over the side of the four-poster bed she shared with Roxas. Careful to move silently and dodge the squeaks in the floorboards, the princess steadily made it out the door. Just as she did, she looked back at her sleeping boyfriend, making sure he was undisturbed. She sighed, contented that he lay unmoving. She tiptoed her way down the hallway, dodging the squeaks again, and made it to the staircase. All of the lights were off, which seemed odd. Normally, there was at least one or two lights on in the large castle to make sure no one tripped over anything during the night.

Which is exactly what she did while trying to find the lights. Her foot got caught on a large vase lining the hallways, and she nearly tipped it over. Kairi barely caught it before it hit the ground. She lifted it up, and found a hallway light to flick on. The lights didn't appear.

"Power's out," she mumbled to herself quietly, cursing the thunderstorm once again. Just as she did, another flash of lightning, and a crash of thunder. "Okay! Okay, I get it! You don't like me either!"

Another crash came from downstairs, in the ballroom. Kairi crept down the grand staircase and found herself next to the French doors leading to their ballroom. She peered in the door and caught sight of a man whom she didn't know. Shocked, she nearly screamed, but placed a hand over her own mouth. He looked as though he was frustrated and looking for something. Kairi, too, peered around the room from her safe standpoint, and saw nothing.

Who is that? she thought, and what is he looking for?

Another flash of lightning and thud of thunder went off, and Kairi sort of yelped upon hearing it. Clapping her hand over her mouth again, she hid quickly against the wall just outside the ballroom door, praying he hadn't heard her.

Searching the castle at night for his target, Chaos appeared in the grand ballroom of the castle of Hollow Bastion. He was here to do his master's bidding, and attack all the light of the worlds. He had been given the mission to take out a highly powerful light wielder in this vicinity, but was unsure as to his target's appearance. The surges he felt from this castle allowed him to know that he was in the right place.

Chaos had been tearing the rooms apart, looking for his target, unsuccessfully. He heard the yelp of a young girl nearby as the flashes and thunderclaps went off outside. The mercenary smiled maniacally as he walked towards the doors, his boots making clacking noises against the pristine floor.

When he reached the doors, he opened one and stepped out of the room two steps. He slammed the door behind him. Hearing her deep breathing, he flung his arm out, catching her neck against the wall with his forearm.

"Well hello, Chickie," he said to her, pressing his arm firmly against her neck, cutting off her air supply, "Don't you know it's rude to spy on people? Or maybe I need to teach you a lesson or two."

With his free arm, he took a grab for her hair. He yanked it back tight, removed his other arm from her throat and placed his hand softly on her jawline.

"You're a pretty little one, Chickie," Chaos told her, "It's too bad that you and I can't have lots and lots of fun together, but I need to kill a certain someone in this castle."

His hand traced down her jawline before catching her throat. He lifted her up a few feet from the wall. Chaos used his strength to throw her through the closed doors of the ballroom. Her body went through the glass panes of the door, bringing the crystals down in giant shards. He stalked towards her, laughing.

"This is gonna be fun," Chaos said, "Scream if this hurts, Chickie."

As his footsteps came closer to her, Kairi's whole body began to shudder in fear. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she kept her hand pressed against her mouth. She watched him from her position with her back against the wall step from the ballroom and she had to hold in her crying.

Kairi barely had time to inhale before the stranger's forearm caught her throat. She spat out a gasp as the tightness against her throat caused her to choke. The princess couldn't breathe. He said those words to her, and all Kairi could do was stare into his violet eyes with her sapphire ones with a glare mixed with fear.

She, once again, had to stifle a yelp as he took her hair hard in his hand, pulling the hair right at its folicles. After the removal of his arm from her throat, Kairi finally got in her gasp for air.

"Don't touch me," she spat at him as he caressed her face. Soon, her air was cut off again, this time by his hand to her throat. She kicked to be free of him as she scratched at the hand holding her up with her nails.

Kairi flew through the French doors like a ragdoll, colliding with the glass, with the shards cutting into her back. A blood curdling scream escaped her lips, rivaling the sound of the shattering of the glass. The teen princess hit the marble floor hard, and skated across the finished floor. She was bleeding down her back, with a few shards dug in. Shakingly, Kairi lifted herself up with her arms, and glanced over at her attacker, scared for her own life.

Roxas had been sleeping peacfully in his bed after a long day of work in the city and barely any sleep the night beforehand. He tried his best to stay up and talk with Kairi, despite her telling him that he should get some rest. Sleeping through all the thunder, he started to breathe heavily. He started shaking in his bed, as if he was having a nightmare. Jumping up from his bed, sweat coming down from his forehead, he noticed that Kairi wasn't in the room. Getting up from his bed, he saw that the bedroom door was open. "Where did she go?". He said as quickly threw on some clothes and walked out of his room. None of the lights were on, and since the attendents usually kept them on he figured that the power went out due to the thunderstorm. He continued down the stairs of the castle and every step he took, he felt as if something was not right. His suspicions were confirmed when he heard a hard crash and the sound of glass shattering. He ran to the Ballroom to see a shadow of a man, and Kairi on the ground shaking in fear and pain. Her body laid there as the floors of the ball room were covered in her blood. His fists started to shake uncontrollably as he approached the man from behind. In his left hand a bright light flashed as the Oathkeeper appeared in his hand and in his right hand a swirl of darkness engulfed his hand as the Oblivion appeared. He brought the blade of the Oblivion Keyblade appeared inches away from the enemy's neck, Roxas tightening the his grip on the blade. "And just who the hell are you.....why are you in my castle...and more important then that...." He said, as his power started to surge from his heightened "Get away from her!!!". He yelled in anger as he swung both keyblades inwards, towards his body in an attempt to attack him from both sides.

Chaos heard the boy's voice behind him, and smiled. He felt the power surge from the summoning of the boy's keyblades, especially from Oathkeeper.

"So you're my target, hunh?" he laughed, glancing behind him. Seeing the keyblades coming at him, he quickly went into a crouching kicks, attempting to land his foot square into Roxas' side and knock him across the room before he realized anything was happening.

Chaos had a fairly fast and strong way of fighting, despite the lack of defence. He spat at the blonde.

"Pathetic," he said.

He sprinted across the room to his female victim. He crouched down next to her, and stared into her eyes.

"We have an audience now, Chickie," he whispered to her, "And we're going to show your little boy toy over here how much fun we can have. Won't that be great?"

As soon as Kairi heard Roxas' voice, she screamed his name at the top of her lungs. She tried to get up to go help him, but her leg collapsed under her. She looked to see a rather large piece of glass from the doors which had gone through her nightgown and dug into the outside part of her right thigh. She screamed in pain.

Taking her hands to it as the boys fought, Kairi yanked it out with all her strength, letting out another loud yell. When it was out, she took a breath and whipped the blood covered shard across the room. It clattered when hitting the marble floor among the other broken glass sprayed throughout the area where she fell.

Before Kairi even had another shot at getting up, Chaos was in front of her. As he looked into her eyes, her entire body shuddered. He claimed his line, as Kairi hid her right hand behind her back.

"I'll show you fun," she told him, a gleam in her sapphire eyes. Radiant Summer emerged in her right hand, and she took a large swing at him, still almost completely incapactiated with her hurt leg.

Chaos immediately stepped out of her swing of the keyblade, the tip just catching his cloak.

"Chickie, Chickie!" he exclaimed, "I thought we had an understanding, you and me?"

Staying out of her keyblade reach, he began to walk behind her, keeping his eyes fixed on her position and that pesky keyblade arm. He would have to do something about that.

"Y'know," he started, "My boss back in Twilight Hell sent me here to take out a light user, and I got drawn here to your little castle. You see, I hate your little girly-ass powers of light. Don't you know that darkness is all the rage now-a-days? Get with the program!"

He quickly grabbed Kairi's wrist, the one holding the keyblade, and planted his boot in the wound on her thigh from the glass. He yanked her arm up, almost pulling it from her shoulder socket.

"So let's try and figure out how we want to do this," he said, "and as quickly as possible please. I do have some plans after this, which are more important, I'm afraid, than your puny little lives."

Missing his target, the man dropped below and proceded to kick Roxas in his side with an unexpected strength. The force from the blow managed to making him slide across the ballroom floor at a high speed. "Ugh...dammit", Roxas thought while wincing in pain as he used the Oathkeeper in order to slow himself down and avoid hitting the Ballroom wall. Coming to a stop he fell to one knee for a second, the restless days have taken its toll on him and this fight was the last thing he needed. However nothing was stronger then his resolve at this point, he had to save Kairi, his only reason to continue living. He picked himself up and started to run towards his enemy. Each step becoming progressively faster as he heard Kairi's screams of pain. "You cowardly piece of crap....I'll get you!" Roxas quickly surveyed his surroundings, running to a table that had been placed in the room, he kicked the table towards the enemy. As the table flew towards him, Roxas flipped the Oblivion around so that the blade was poiting behind him, stretching his arm back and then quickly swinging it back foward, releasing the Oblivion keyblade which began traveling close to the ground in order to strike at his legs. The table mearly served as a distraction as his keyblade approaced his enemy behind the table. The table and the Oblivion Keyblade cut through the air in the ballroom, his keyblade spinning at a high rate of speed ready to hit at full force as it approached its target. Running as fast as he could, Roxas decided to arc over to the right for a followup attack from the side, both of his hands holding tightly onto the Oathkeeper, his eyes on Kairi who was being attacked by this invader.

Chaos watched as the light user sent the table, and behind it the keyblade, flying towards him. A simple tactic wouldn't work on someone who's lived in a hell. He lifted up the small female as he used her body to stop the first attack that he send from his flank. Using her body gave him a bit of momentum to flip her over. As she did, he was still gripping her wrist, feeling her bones slowly pop with each twist and pull. Quite painful for someone who wasn't used to pain. He felt her body tense up if was almost able to hear her nerves shriek in response to the twisting. Still in the air, as the keyblade sped past him he stomped down on top of it. He smiled at the princess who was still shouting in pain as he grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground. Chaos lifted up his foot and sent a painful shot to her already hurting body, sending a fast and powerful shot to her ribs as he chuckled.

"Yeah," he laughed, maniacally, "keep screaming. It's reminding me that you're still alive... I want to make sure you're dead by the end of this."

Grabbing her by the neck as her tears and blood slowly pooled, he started to choke her as she gripped onto his hands. He tightened his grip and right before she was completely out of air, he dropped her down on to her knees. He pulled out three knives as he threw the handles in to one of the walls. It was hard enough to stick them in there with the blade pointing out. He grabbed her kneck again as he threw her with all his strength twoards the knives.

"It's up to you hero," he yelled to Roxas, "Save the girl, or go after me... Either way, hurry up and do something. I still have more important things to do. I'm getting sick of beating down weak light users like the two of you."

Kairi was disappointed that she hadn't struck him properly, but as she was calculating her next move against the sadistic tormentor who had invaded her castle, he grabbed her wrist, and yanked it up. The young princess screamed in pain as she felt her muscles resist in agony. Radiant Summer clattered to the ground beside her and disappeared in the same flash of light it had shown itself in. As Chaos planted his boot in Kairi's wounded leg, she screamed harder. She felt as if he was going to be able to rip her in half.

She wanted to spit at him, before she took him down herself. Kairi was amazed at herself. She had never felt this way towards an enemy before. Even when Saix had kidnapped her all those years ago.

The girl looked towards her boyfriend, who was recooperating from a nice sized kick to the side.

"Roxas!" she screamed, "Just run!"

He must not've heard her though because she saw him charge at their enemy, who still had Kairi's wrist locked in his hand. Roxas' attack came closer and closer to the two, and Kairi realized what her attacker was going to do. By the time Kairi had been hit with the table, she felt as if her vocal cords would snap due to the amount of shrieking she had done. Afterwards, he grabbed her hair, and the princess felt the follicles of her auburn hair rip from her scalp. Chaos pinned her to the ground after landing a painful kick into her ribcage. Kairi sputtered, coughing hard enough that her entire body wretched.

Tears poured down Kairi’s cheeks as she heard his taunts to both her and Roxas. As he picked her up once again by her neck and throttled her, Kairi scratched feebly at his hands, ripping open his skin a bit, and making her nails bleed. She was already bleeding from the cuts on her face and arms, not to mention the giant gash from the top of her forehead. Her eyes pinched shut as he choked her, and she wished desperately that Roxas would just run. The girl knew that if it came down to it though, Roxas would fight for her until the end.

Kairi was dropped to the ground, and she hit it quite hard, falling to her side. She didn’t see what her attacker had done next. All she could do was grab at her ribcage. Breathing hurt, and her coughing made everything worse. She was convinced he had broken at least two of her ribs in that last kick. Kairi was no longer thinking strategically, but, moreover, was concerned for how broken her body already was. It was hard to make up a plan when she was in so much pain.

As he picked her up again, she locked her sapphire eyes with Roxas’ ocean ones. It was a look to tell him what she had been screaming since the attack began: “Run. Run now.” He threw her full force at knives he had dug, blade out, into the walls. Her body flew, and as she went, she ended up back towards the knives, poised to take her life. She closed her eyes and readied herself for the eventual blow; one that would sign her death.

"I don't have many options right now....dammit" Roxas thought to himself. With Kairi being badly hurt, and his inability to use his spells because of his lack of energy, it seemed as if he was backed into a corner. At one point she locked eyes with him, a look that told him to run away, but that thought was unacceptable under any circumstances. At this point, he didn't care if he ended up lieing on the floor lifeless, all he wanted to do was save her. His enemy put him in a dire situation, throwing knives with enough force to have the handles embed themselves in the wall with the blades pointing outward. He then proceded to throw Kairi at full force to the wall, her body flying through the air, heading straight for the knives. There was no time to think at all, Roxas had to act and act fast. His right foot pushed off the floor as he started to run towards the wall where Kairi was headed, in two fluid movements, Roxas tossed his Keyblades with the strength he had left. The Oblivion headed towards Chaos' body while Oathkeeper flew towards the knives embeded into the wall. The Oathkeeper curved so that it would be lined up at the right of the wall with the knives, spinning vertically. The spinning keyblade created enough force as it flew by each blade to bend the blade of the knife to the left, so that it would not pierce his body. Roxas then threw himself in front of the wall as Kairi came flying, catching her with his body and holding her in with his arms. The force she was thrown with was strong enough to push him towards the knife wall, where he felt a slight hot sensation in the lower right part of his back. Unfortunately because the keyblade had to pass through numerous knives, the loss of speed after hitting each one severly dampened the force at which the keyblade was thrown, leaving one knife slightly bent but still sticking out. At first Roxas did not feel the pain of the knife piercing his skin, he needed to pull the knife out of the wall and then pull it out of his back because of the odd angle that it ended up stabbing him. He pulled it out of his lower back, his blood shooting out after the tip of the blade exited his back. Roxas let out a small scream as he winced from the pain of pulling out the knife. Flicking the knife to the right so that some of the blood would come off, he placed it into his pocket and cradled Kairi in his arms, his face full of sorrow from seeing her in intense pain. Meanwhile the Oblivion keyblade had been racing towards Chaos, making it appear as if it was going to strike him. However this was not Roxas' plan. Closing in on Chaos, as soon as it was close the keyblade curved up towards the ceiling, serving as a distraction. It struck a set of chandeliers closest to Chaos, causing them to fall from thier hooks and plummet towards the ground. The crashed against the floor around him, the sound of glass shattering filled the large room as the millions of shards of glass scattered around and fell to the floor. While this happened, Roxas ran towards the closest window, jumping out shoulder first and landing in the Castle Courtyard. Running as fast as he could, Roxas ran past town with Kairi in his arms, jumping from roof to roof, headed towards the field that they usually spent time in. "Right now this is the only thing I can do, I have to get her away from that guy." He thought as he arrived in the field, exhausted. He walked towards the side of the Field where the forest began, laying Kairi near a tree as gently as he could. Looking down at her and holding back any tears of despair and sadness, Roxas felt a jolt of pain from his wound once again. Placing his right hand on it to feel that it was still wet, he looked at his hand that was now colored red, drenched in his own blood. Letting out a slight sigh, he let his legs give away, collapsing to the ground next to Kairi, and staring at the Full Moon that was hovering over the town. "I'm Sorry..." he whispered to her as he listened to her slight breathing and the cries of the animals in forest behind them, the wind gently blowing by and shaking the leaves of the trees they rested against.

Chaos watched as the light user risked life and limb to save his little princess. He laughed as the boy took the knives in to his back. Roxas was stronger than Chaos expected; not by much, but he was. As soon as the boy counter-attacked with the keyblade into the chandelier, Chaos didn't pay attention. The enormous light fixture crashed down on top of the demon mercenary, its crystals spraying in every different direction. Afterwards, he just brushed off the debris from his body as he stood up. He noticed that his two victims had vacated the room, and the castle itself.

"Ran away, as exepected," he scoffed, "Why do they always enjoy running away? It's only going to prolong their suffering."

Chaos walked outside, following the clear path of blood that the couple were leaving behind. He followed it towards the same area where they were. The demon wasn't too far behind. As he reached the field, he smirked maliciously while looking at the couple under the tree in the moonlight.

"How romantic," the mercenary laughed, "almost like a painting. Yet, I still have more importa--"

Chaos looked up at the moonlight. His time limit had passed. Now his spotless record of killing his target in a orderly time was ruined. He felt rage, anger, insanity. His body burned with rage and he couldn't think straight. His vision became blood red while he grasped his head as it pounded with frustration. A voice in his head shouting at him to kill everything without mercy and string their worthless bodies up in that tree echoed around his skull.

"Do... you know... DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE?... my time... my time, my time."

Chaos repeated "my time" over and over, continuously as he slumped over and his arms almost touched the ground. He started to stagger towards them, swinging his arms and upper body back and forth. His eyes filled with malice and pure destruction, Chaos pulled out different knives from his coat as he circled them.

"I'm going to murder you, and your little girlfriend," Chaos heaved, eyes on Roxas, "And I'm going to enjoy every drop of blood that you spill, and hear your agonizing cries and revel in it. That little girl is going to die, and you're going to watch me rip her heart from her pretty little chest while it's still beating."

He charged towards them sloppily as he started to slash around the couple attempting to sever any limbs or do as much damage as possible. Chaos slashed around wildly without any restraint, not aiming specifically. He just repeated the same actions continuously, hoping to spill as much blood as possible.

For a short amount of time everything seemed okay, Roxas was hoping that things were going to be okay. But soon he started to see the shadow of a person walk closer, and he started to worry. His body ached, he started to feel weak because of the blood he was losing, the last thing he wanted to think of was losing and not being able to protect Kairi, but just as his sight started to blur and fade, so did his chances to save her. Chaos reached them and saw them laying at the tree, at first he seemed his normal self, but when he looked at the moon something changed. He slumped over, walking in a way only a maniac would. He kept muttering "my time" under his breath as he apporached Roxas and Kairi. Using the same kind of Knives he used on the wall, he pulled out more with a murderous look in his eyes. As he got close he started swinging around, attempting to strike them both. Roxas held both hands in front of him to summon his Keyblades but something happened. The dark aura that surrounded his hand as he summoned Oblivion appeared and then suddenly dissipated, the keyblade nowhere to be found. "What...what happened to my Keyblade...?" Roxas said, shock in his eyes. He tried to summon the Oathkeeper, which did appear in his hand. "I guess I'm more out of it then I thought...at least i have the Oathkeeper still". He held up his Keyblade and placed his hand near the tip of the blade to ensure stability. He then proceded to block Chaos' strikes, trying his best to stay up on one knee and keep Kairi safe. Every strike Chaos made just drained more energy out of Roxas. He had to do something about him before it was too late. Roxas used all the strength he had in his body left to rise up from the ground, he then started to push ahead, causing Chaos to back up and get away from Kairi. "If anything, I need to keep him away from her." He thought, as they reached the middle of the field. Roxas then did a quick jump back and put both hands on the keyblade. "This is all I can do" Roxas used the rest of his remaining strength to deliver a strike to the right side of Chaos, hoping it would break though his defenses and at least do some damage.

Chaos continued to strike even as the young nobody made his pitiful attempts to save the girl collapsed at the base of the tree. The boy had lifted up his Keyblade to stop him, but Chaos continued to rapidly strike at it. He was making gouges in the silly piece of metal the nobody had the gall to call a weapon. The mercenary noticed that he was one short however, and attempted to use this to his advantage. The gashes got harder as he threw more weight into it, eyes still appearing as a madman’s would; bloodlust taking over his brain and very existence.

Chaos suddenly felt the boy before him throw weight into his movements. When his opponent jumped backwards, the mercenary realized he had partially lost control of his beloved murders of the two lovers. His victim struck at him, landing a lucky hit.

He crumpled a bit, angered that he had been harmed. The shocking eyes that he used to peer down at his victims grew large, and even more hateful then before.

“Your death will be sweet!” he exclaimed to the sky, his voice echoing through the plains surrounding them.

Chaos whipped a dagger at Roxas, hoping to strike him in the right shoulder. If his aim was right, it would nail his victim between the collarbone and his arm joint. That would disable that harmful little Keyblade arm of his. Just after his throw, Chaos ran towards Roxas at an amazing speed, jump-tackling him just about at the time the dagger would strike him.

Roxas kept attempting to fight back, regardless of his physical condition. With every strike from Chaos his body became weaker but his resolve to protect Kairi stood strong. Swinging his Keyblade with the strength he had left, Roxas managed to get a hit it but that only served to anger Chaos more. His sight starting to blur, his swings became weaker and his movements sluggish, to the point where he had to use the keyblade to keep himself from collapsing. Chaos threw his dagger, Roxas attempting to dodge but instead feeling the sting of a blade piercing his skin, Chaos following up with an attack. His Keyblade disappearing from his hands, Roxas flew towards the forest, his body hittting a tree and then falling to the ground. With his weapons not responding, Roxas couldn't do much of anything anymore. He reached into his pocket where there was the dagger that pierced his skin previously. "I guess I am nothing but a nobody...not even able to protect something that made him feel like he had a heart...Im sorry". Roxas saud. He threw the dagger with his last bit of strength, his eyes feeling heavy, the moon looking like a blur in the sky.

Chaos smiled gleefully as the blade penetrated his young foe’s skin. He licked his lips as he watched the blood spurt from the wound, making his resolve only stronger. His attack against Roxas sent him flying into the nearby woods. He approached the semi-unconscious blonde teen, dodging a knife that was uselessly thrown into the dark abyss. The mercenary planted his knees on the keybearer, pinning him to the ground, a firm hand on the knife plunged into Roxas’ shoulder. He twisted it in his hand, digging it in only deeper, and feeling it scrape against bone, hoping to get a loud and beautiful scream. More crimson blood poured from the wound, and Chaos' eyes gleamed with excitement and stimulation.

“The bastard of light will soon be dead!” he exclaimed to the skies and trees, “The blood this boy will spill will become part of my legacy! It will taste sweet.”

Chaos ripped the knife out of Roxas’ shoulder and lifted it up high. He had no regard for the boy’s life in the first place, and he was accomplishing what he had set out to do. The mercenary was eager to feel the teen’s lifeforce drain out from under him. It excited him to think of all the pleasure he would take in Roxas’ death. He noticed the fluttering of the blonde’s eyes. Pathetic, he thought.

With both hands, Chaos lifted the knife over his head, ready to plunge it into Roxas’ chest.

“If you’re so ready to die,” he laughed, “Let me finish you off! Now, DIE.”

Kairi awoke under the tree that Roxas had placed her under. She woke slowly at first, eyes fluttering open before she realized once again what was going on. The throbbing pain reminded her first, originally coming from her thigh where she was still bleeding profusely from her glass wound. Kairi fought to wake herself up faster though, hearing Roxas’ voice in the distance, followed by Chaos’. She lifted herself to her knees. That was a bad idea. She let out a yelp of pain. Sinking back down to a sitting position, she bit her lip and lifted herself to her feet. Her leg slightly collapsed from under her, but she gained enough strength to stand.

“I’m coming, Roxas,” she said quietly, before launching herself into a limped run.

Kairi arrived at the spot just to hear Chaos’ maniacal voice looming over Roxas. The princess was scared for her love. She took a slight step forward, and her foot pressed against something cool and metallic. She reached down and picked it up, turning it over in her hand and looking at it with the help of the moonlight. It was a dagger, one of Chaos’ to be precise. She shuffled it into her right hand, holding it carefully. Just before she threw it, she said a prayer, hoping that it would help her hit her target.

Right as Chaos lifted his hand with another dagger to kill the blonde, she threw it, eyes closed, hoping to hit his hand.

Chaos was ready to listen to the knife plunge into the boy’s skin when the sound arrived too soon. He felt a jolt of pain in his right hand, seeing blood spurt out that was not his victim’s but his own. He screamed in pain, getting off Roxas. Cradling his injured hand in his other, he swivelled around, looking for the source.

“Where are you,” he snarled, “WHERE ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE BITCH?”

He gripped his uninjured hand onto the hilt of the blade. Holding his breath, Chaos tore it out, more blood spilling from the top. It was soon drenched down his arm. He reached up to his sleeve and tore a piece of fabric from it. Chaos wrapped his hand, still bleeding profusely, with it, and soon the fabric was dyed a deep crimson red.

The mercenary stared into the dark woods, trying to hear for the pale little female, or even catch a glimpse of her. He knew she was hurt and was only trying to save her dear little lover boy. She couldn’t do much, nor could she go very far from the scene, especially if she wanted to save both of their lives.

“Here, Chickie, Chickie, Chikiiiiiieeeeee,” he sang into the trees, “If you want to save your boytoy from my blades then you better come out and plaaaaaayyyyyyyyy.”

Chaos was losing his patience with the young girl. Not only had she wasted his time quota, she was playing hide and seek with him in the woods, preventing him to from doing his job.

"Don't worry Chickie," he sang once again, "If you come out to play with me, then I will let you die quickly. It will end fast for both of you. But if you keep hiding like this, I promise you that when I get my hands on you, I will skin you alive and enjoy every scream your little vocal cords can make before I tear them from your throat and show them to you."

Kairi opened her eyes to see whether or not she had hit her target. His screams of pain were enough to tell her so. Her leg throbbing, she quickly hid behind the trees she was enveloped in, knowing that if he truly had gotten his hands on her, he would do exactly what he was threatening. She glanced out over her shoulder, past the mercenary and to Roxas lying on the ground.

Seeing him there was like a stab to her heart. She couldn’t bear to see him injured let alone unconscious and at the mercy of the madman they were facing. Kairi attempted to go through how she would do this in her head. First, there was the direct approach: scoop him up and run like hell. Too bad she couldn’t run. Her leg was injured far too badly for her to be able to get away on her own body weight, let alone that of her dead-weight boyfriend. That was out. She could always stand and fight him, but chances are, she would be thrown around like a ragdoll and would most likely be murdered with Roxas. Another option was out. The other approach she could have would be her form. She wasn’t sure if her body could deal with her form, but it was the only thing she could possibly muster. Kairi took a deep breath, and walked out from her hiding spot. She had a determined look on her face, as she stared down their attacker, ready to fight.

Instead of her normal Keyblade, a flash of pure white light emerged around her right hand, as Heaven’s Light came forward. This time, she was more serious. Her second Keyblade in her hand, Kairi readied herself to go into her form. Light began to emerge from her heart, wrapping her in it. White wings emerged from her back as her attire changed. She erupted into her Sanctuary form, her last act of life preservation, in order to save herself and Roxas. She only had a limited amount of time, and she was determined to win this fight.

"Bring it on."

Chaos turned to look as the flash of light emerged from behind him. He made a quick, shocked, 180 degree turn. When he saw his young victim change and become and angel-like girl, his expression changed many times. He went from shock, to dismay, but then became pleased.

"So it was you all along, Chickie?" he asked, an evil smirk on his face, "the little emissary of light I'm supposed to take out is a pretty red-headed little princess?"

Without looking at where he aimed, the mercenary threw the bloody knives in his hand at the tree. They struck just above Roxas, who was now unconscious, and Chaos hadn't even cared that they missed. He had a new target now. He smiled wider at her.

"So, Chickie, Chickie," he said, slowly pacing a few steps around her, "It's just you and me now. No more little boyfriend of yours to get in our way."

A few more knives emerged from his coat, and he kept the four between his fingers, two on each hand.

"I can't wait until I can spill your pretty little blood all over the place," he said, breaking into a run towards her quickly. He abruptly stopped in front of her, just inches from her face. "I can't wait to taste yours... and his as well."

Chaos brought both hands full of knives twoards her from opposite directions, aiming for her throat. He figured this would do the most damage, and spill the most blood. After all, if he managed to take out her jugular vein and artery, all she would be able to do was scream and writhe on the ground, slowly bleeding out and begging him for mercy. That was the exact idea he adored.
