I currently feel Synthesizing isn't strong enough right now. I understand why some of the concepts haven't been accepted due to them being spell like, or too powerful, for something that doesn't cost MP, but I believe that unless Synthesizing is made more powerful then it will become a dump stat.

Right now, it is special weaponry that I feel isn't on par with the other stats. Thoughts and ideas?

I am not even sure what exactly falls under the purview of the Synth stat.. If possible i would like a better description of it. If that was already planned with the start of this topic, then i appologize for not adding anything relevent

That's the issue. There are mixed views and opinions and some people don't know what would constitute a magical item and the powers it could potential give. Obviously, it shouldn't be the equivalent of something that costs MP but it should still be powerful in its own right in a way that MP and other slots can't.

Well I know, at least in my mind, Synthesized weapons have properties a normal weapon wouldn't have, not abilities that are like spells for the weapon. I guess an Example would be Alex's Gravity Forged thing that increases the weapons resistance to pressure, or my Featherweight property that decreases the weight of the weapon by at least half. But thats just where my mind is on this...

Yeah, those are both very applicable but I still feel concepts such as The Mana Safe should be allowed. As well as other, potentially powerful, abilities. It's a very hard line to draw.

I think.. That as case-by-case items are made.. they could be compiled into a thread of links and a standard model could come from that. and from there we could limit what can be done.

Until then you could have people trying to push the envelop. and the power of the Synth skill needs a noticeable effect on this

Definitely, I am just trying to make sure the envelope isn't too tight and just toss ideas around with people. This topic could help with ideas and potential yays or nays via how strong it could be and in what ways.

My two cents is that absolute abilities anywhere such as: cuts through anything, cannot be resisted, ignores all defenses, cannot be broken, etc.

These types of abilities tend to not play well with each other and are overpowered no matter where they are found. They also reduce creativity because if those are running around you will need your own to fight people who have them making your abilities streamlined for community imposed mundane survival requirements.

i would have thought that absolutes would be understood as unpossible.

A weapon or Armor that could have a shape modification. Example A sword that could extend a set amount. An armor that could be one solid piece but have the needed mobility yet still protect like standard solid metal armor. A semi-solid material if you will.

would this be something that's on the list of possibilities..
