A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Yukina Tarka on October 6th 2013, 9:37 am

It was... hot.
In the desert, go figure.

Exactly why she was here she wasn't too sure of anymore. Originally in had been intended as the first in a line of visits to various world's throughout the universe, in an attempt to find the next one she might call home, and perhaps one day her own. But why she thought Agrabah, of all places, would suit her she was unsure. It was practically the opposite of what she wanted... hot, riddled by drought, and full of poor people. She shuddered at the thought. All these homeless, icky individuals living in her midst was almost too much to stomach. At least in the Underworld all of her 'residents' were dead, and entirely bent to her every whim and desire, but the people in Agrabah had nothing. There was nothing stopping them from uprising, because of course, as she had learnt in another universe, poor people got hungry, and hungry people got desperate, and desperate people did some very, very stupid things. Stupid things that were also incredibly annoying, and not the kinds of things that Yukina cared to bother herself with. So no, Agrabah would not have the pleasure of Yukina as a resident anytime soon.

Currently, she was sitting in an all too elaborate dress at the edge of the market district, fanning herself with the intricately crafted red and gold fan she had acquired just moments before. Her dress was white, knee-length and short-sleeved, but she wanted nothing more than to just throw it off and be done with it. Normally, she loved warmer weather. But there was something about practically dying that changed that within her, as if she had been living in the snow for years of her life and had just now been thrust back into the desert. Which, in a way, was kind of true.

She had made a couple of companions on her trip thus far, and hadn't felt the need to murder either of them. Not yet, anyway. One was a younger boy, no more than fourteen she imagined, an Agrabah native who was handling the heat much better than she. She had found him scrambling up the side of a building earlier (apparently an ability common amongst the street rats) and had offered him some money for the day if he accompanied her and carried her things. Him, thinking this would be easy money, accepted, but perhaps had not realised just how much money the lady had to spend. It was a lot. And he was exhausted. His reprieve had come in the form of the girl's own tiredness, needing a break from the assault on the market stalls and jewellery stores Agrabah had to offer.

The second was an older man, who she had just met moments before. He was sitting at the table when she asked if she could perhaps join him, eyeing off the lone piece of shade that he solely occupied. He was dressed quite nicely, apparently much better off than the majority of the people in the streets, and was quite the talker.

"What of the ruler, is there any?" Yukina asked, the pair were acquainted previously and the boy, sitting in the sand nearby, was too occupied playing with some little animal to bother listening to the conversation.

"No, no. No Sultan. Hasn't been for quite a while." The man let out a small laugh, but it didn't seem like he meant it. "Perhaps if we had a Sultan all this mess could be cleaned up."

"Mess?" She asked, genuinely curious. While it wasn't common for Yukina to show such... restraint, she wanted to gather as much information as she could about the current political climate of the different worlds and (perhaps unfortunately for one so ungifted in the art of conventional conversation) the best way to find out this information was to ask.

"All this of course!" The man said, gesturing around him. People were begging on the street, but there was no one to beg from. The poor couldn't give to the poor, and the rich were few and far between. In fact, her current companion was the wealthiest man Yukina had seen so far. "Ever since the last Sultan up and left, all the money's just dried up. Just like all the water. It's not good for us here, hasn't been for quite some time."

Yukina frowned. How many worlds were like this? Left helpless without a leader, while all these so-called heroes were too busy stopping her from going about her business, just for the sake of a couple of lives. Ideas began to formulate, thoughts clicked into place as the girl gazed off into the distance.

"...we need someone, or at least, something to happen. And fast. I'm not sure how much longer many of these people will survive." The man said, Yukina zoning back into concentration just to catch the end of his speech. She nodded at him, as graciously as the murderess could muster, before offering a quick goodbye and approaching her young boy helper.

"Monkey!" She said, the nickname she had given her little slave for the day. Perhaps offensive, she didn't care. She didn't have the time nor the will to learn his name.
"Let's get these things back to the ship, hmm? I have something I need you to do for me next, I'll pay you a little more of course." She liked the boy, enough to offer him money rather than threaten his life into doing what she wanted. They began to walk, but Yukina's mind was solely fixed on her conversation prior.

What if... what if there was someone to save these people? She was sure there must be worlds like Agrabah, devoid of leader and motivation. Places so desolate and cut off from the other worlds that their citizens were practically scrambling for anything they needed to survive. People were desperate. While their desperation had been her downfall in the past, what if, just maybe, a different tactic could be used to meet her objectives. Perhaps, for once, in order to gain the power she so coveted, force was not the ideal means. Diplomacy, a word once so foreign to her, could that really be the answer? Could winning the favour of these peasants really be the thing she was looking for? It was confusing, an idea that needed much more thought from the girl before she could really put anything into motion but... could she really do it? She had difficulty composing herself for long enough to last a day without wanting to, quite literally, rip someone's head off... was this really the avenue for one such as her? She shook her head, she couldn't do it by herself. She needed someone to help her, someone she trusted. She needed to speak to Etzolix. But first, she had to really formulate her ideas, put them all together into one cohesive plan of action that could, perhaps, prove useful.

Beloved leader. An archetype so foreign to the girl that it was almost seemingly impossible, but, for some reason, so desirable. As if it were the answer she had been looking for all this time. To be loved, adored, to have all that power. How had she not thought of it before?

"What are you waiting for?" She snarled, as the pair had arrived at her ship. She bit her tongue immediately, though, as a single word run through her mind.
Diplomacy.

"I mean, if you could just pop everything in the ship we can be on our way." The trembling voice that escaped her lips was as fake as the smile that followed. She would need to work on her acting, too, if anyone was ever to fall for the whole 'good person' thing.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Oriel on October 8th 2013, 6:22 am

Upon entering the world of Agrabah Oriel would be quick to learn of its insane temperatures. Being one to enjoy heat and the chance to wear different clothes the girl would wear something suitable underneath her cloak. She wore a loose white singlet with a black bandeau underneath it, a pair of beige cargo type shorts held up by a thin brown belt and the usual pair of green sneakers. Her long turquoise, almost blue hair would be tied in two separate parts to the lower back part of her head. Her face hidden from the sun underneath the hood of her cloak.

As she walked along she felt bad for the citizens of this world, all of them that she had seen so far asked her for money. Oriel wasn't one full of money, if she could, she'd give them all that she could but alas being an early traveler made her pockets very shallow. Walking along the main street she would browse the market, it seemed so strange that there would be so much gold and jewellery to sell for one's self when there were people all around needing money. Jewellery would be the last thing Oriel would buy.

Walking past a stall full of clothes made from fine silk and airy scarfs galore the girl noticed the man selling these items scurrying about for his children to go play, they were all scruffy and looked rather hungry looking. Browsing the stall she came across a see through silk scarf with silver linings, picking out the scarf she wrapped it around her neck, giving the man more money than the scarf was worth. Giving money to a single beggar Oriel thought would only make it unfair to the rest, this man with his stall and children Oriel thought was the best way to give some sort of charity to some of this world's people. Carrying on the girl found another stall that gave temporary hand tattoos, thinking 'why not?' the girl sat down to have a design done on her hand.

Her hood up though he sleeves rolled Oriel heard a familiar voice. Turning to see who it was the girl would quickly turn her head back to the tattooist once seeing the face of Yukina. She had a little boy following her around carrying her shopping items, a person of lots of money Oriel could only assume with her being so close to someone the girl thought of as powerful. Where the woman sat, the white mage was only so far away to hear small parts of the conversation she shared with a wealthy man. A rare sighting in this world. The early traveler was surprised she wasn't being so hostile to the wealthy man as she did with the one in Land of the Dragons. Out of focus on the henna tattoo the artist nudged Oriel saying it was done. In this instant the murderer was off with her monkey slave.

Distracted for a second the girl paid the tattooist and carried on to follow the woman and her little friend. Oriel would keep a distance from the woman just enough to make sure she wouldn't be noticed. As she followed she would make her way up the sides of the buildings, similar to the playful peasants of this world. Watching and listening to the woman she was shocked to see the boy hadn't been threatened in order to get him to do what she wanted him to. The interest in this woman was not just because she was a psycho murderer but her involvement in Etzolix and why she did the things she did. Her killings had some purpose perhaps and that made Oriel curious. As the pair arrived at the woman's gummi ship Oriel stood at the corner of a roof watching as the boy did what he was told.

The girl planned to approach her just, not until the boy was gone. It didn't take Oriel long to realize at their last encounter that this woman was missing a soul. The assumption made that if Oriel were to come close she'd slit the boys throat just to get to the teen's head. The plan in Oriel's head wasn't to kill the woman, make justice happen or avenge the man of the temporary home world she had. But, to make sense of all that shit that went down. The awkward encounter, the killing and why the horse. In the belt loops of her shorts Oriel's sais were ready to be drawn at any moment should it be needed. Maybe not now.. but soon most likely.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

"Come along, Monkey." She said, mustering as much faux-compassion into her voice that she could. The sun was beating down still, and she could feel her skin starting to turn a prickly shade of pink, so she quickly retreated into the ship and retrieved something to offer her some kind of protection from it's harsh rays. Re-emerging with a white sun umbrella (to match her dress, of course) the young woman walked briskly back into the city proper, her young boy slave following closely behind.

She was headed to the palace, to see what other information she could learn about the past rulers of this place. She figured there would be a wealth of information inside, and didn't think it would be too difficult, considering there was no official body in charge of the world. But that was, of course, where her little slave came in. If anyone knew how to bust their way into a palace, it would the street rats. The little kids who scurried their ways across rooftops, between buildings. Honestly, she would be surprised if he hadn't been in the palace before now. Approaching the palace gate, Yukina turned to her little companion.

"I want you to find your way inside, and then come open the gate." She said, with a slight smile. The boy's face dropped when he heard what she wanted to do, which she wished away with her next words. "The money in it is good, monkey. If you can do this, I might have use for you after all of this, too."

He wasn't sure how he felt about that. This woman was weird. Too weird for him to want to have anything to do with, but... money was good. He needed money, he hadn't had a good meal in months. So he did as he was told, disappearing into the city to find the quickest route inside.

As he scampered off, Yukina took a seat at a nearby bench. Her umbrella was up and open protecting her from the majority of the sun, while her feet dug into the sand around her. She wasn't good with waiting -- patience was not one of her virtues -- but she knew something like this would take time. She should've just gone with him, she thought, but she hadn't the agility nor speed that he did, it would inevitably just take longer. So instead she occupied herself with other thoughts, picking at her nails and playing with her dress, waiting for something to happen inside.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Scrambling across rooftops as the street rats of this world did Oriel followed the two to the palace gates. The heat up top was more than below at least in the shadows of the buildings. Shrugging it off the girl carried on, her cloak still on despite the heat, she didn't want her skin to burn. Once at the palace gates Oriel perched from above, listening in on the conversati- directions given to the boy. As he left the girl cast the spell Self Repeat, causing three clones to form around her. At the same time she made her Hand of Aeolus active. The three clones sat behind her, tanning, they didn't really have personality but they did do weird things when Oriel wasn't controlling them. The girl turned to face them, pointing at one of them.

"Down you go, sit next to her."

With that, there was one clone leaving. Using hand movements Oriel manipulated the air around it to let it float down, making the landing soft and quiet. Where it landed was behind the murderess, the clone walking forward to the bench to sit next to Yukina. The clone turned to face her, a smile on her face. The clones voice was full of confidence and joy as it would speak to the young woman.

"Quite hot in this world isn't it Yukina?"

The clone stood up, a cooling breeze rolling through it's cloak then across to Yukina. Stepping forward the fake leaned against the wall where Oriel was perched above. The girl looking down at her clone with contempt, she was ready to move back to hide where she really was. Though, there were two more clones sitting behind her staring at the sun. Their minds were strange when Oriel wasn't in control of them.

"I'm not here to try fight you or avenge that fat man.. Or on any mission for that short Empress.. I'm just curious about you.."

There was a reason for the clones and quite frankly it was just for Oriel's safety. She knew she could fight if she needed to, but sending in her new clones was fun and would most likely confuse Yukina if she acted hostile towards it.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Yukina Tarka on October 10th 2013, 12:07 am

Yukina's eyes flicked to the stranger... no, not a stranger. That girl. The one she had planned to kill before she was so rudely interrupted. A sigh escaped her lips, there was no use in completing the deed now, everything was too complicated. Every little hero from world's away had arrived to chastise her, all for killing one little fat man who owed her anyway. It wasn't like it was just senseless murder, there was reason behind it. Justification. That's what she told herself, that's what she believed.

"Oriel," she hissed, eyes narrowing into something of a frown. "It is a desert sweetheart, hadn't you noticed? Being hot is kind of part of the deal." She said, sarcasm oozing from her like honey. She watched as the girl went and leant against the wall a little way away, and Yukina smiled. Perhaps she had already learnt it wise to keep her distance from the young murderess.

"I am quite interesting," she smiled, answering Oriel's next inquiry. It was cute, she was 'curious' about Yukina. How charming, maybe she had a crush? Yukina stifled a laugh at the thought, it wouldn't be the first time.

"And there are things I must know about you, too, Oriel. But right now I'm waiting for a friend and we have things to take care of, you could tag along but you don't seem the type to want to break any rules." She winked at the girl, before crossing her legs and tilting her head to the side. "You seem to have taken a liking to my friend Etzolix, however, so anytime you want to talk, you could probably find us together."

She paused, a kind of devilish grin appearing across her porcelain skin.

"Unless, of course, I underestimated you. Maybe you do have some guts, after all."

And then, as if on cue, the palace gate swung open and Monkey scampered out. Yukina walked to the gate, patting the boy's scruffy head and turning back to Oriel.

"What do you say? Fancy a little fun?"

The clone chuckled as Oriel would in a normal response. The hiss and the sarcastic tone was typical of her, all of which Oriel wouldn't take to heart. She figured it was part of her personality. Listening to the woman talk herself up over how interesting she was brought a smile to Oriel and her clone's face. Hearing her mention Etzolix the girl rolled her eyes, that guy was way too confusing for her to confront him anytime soon. The girl would stay silent the whole time. With the gate opening, the scruffy boy there to distract Yukina for a quick second Oriel jumped down, manipulating the air to make her landing soft and the clone to go above to where she was once standing. Smiling at Yukina when she turned around asking if she was keen for a bit of rule breaking.

"Sure, why not."

She said walking to the gate her hand making a motion that grasped forward sending her clones to travel along the ledges and rooftops following where she went inside the palace. The new abilities Oriel had learned were pretty handy, she chose to come down and encounter with Yukina as herself just so she could hear properly and didn't have to be a creeper following behind like her clones would have to do now. She wasn't sure why the young woman would want anything to do with this palace or its ruler or lack of ruler but she'd go along interest.

"There's not really a ruler here to make rules though is there?"

She asked, a smirk on her face. Her personality was beginning to get a bit smug, part of her plan. Don't show the murderess who she really was, at least not until she had gained some sort of trust. The girl laughed in her mind, gaining the trust of this woman was nearly a joke. Looking down at Monkey Oriel gave him a one sided smile, the things these people would do for money and food.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Yukina Tarka on October 10th 2013, 2:16 am

Completely oblivious to the body swap that had occurred, Yukina simply marched her way into the palace courtyard, strutting her way towards the grand doorway with her slave in tow.

"No official ruler, no..." she said, turning her head slightly to speak to her newest companion, "but the gates were still locked, weren't they? Something, someone is inside I'm quite sure."

Approaching the door, the girl walked up to them and pulled at the handles. Locked, as she expected, but perhaps not what she hoped. She turned back around, a slight sigh escaping her lips. Plan B. Gesturing for the others to follow, she veered around the side of the palace and begun the search for an alternate entrance.

"If all else fails we can always break our way in, but," she paused, turning back to her little followers for dramatic effect, "being a little sneaky is more fun." Trying to open a few windows as she went, she eventually concluded that they must all be locked and let out another little heaving sigh. She leant against the wall and looked up at the sky, and then...

"There." She said, pointing up towards the balcony. She knew the doors up there wouldn't be looked, she could feel it. And even if they were, breaking their way in up there was much less conspicuous than breaking the locks on the front door. She smiled, she was enjoying this.

"Either of you have any suggestions?" She asked, in regards to how they might find their way up. She would think of something, undoubtedly, but thought she might as well offer her newest companions the opportunity to prove themselves in her eyes.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Oriel on October 10th 2013, 5:26 am

As the further doors were locked Oriel's mouth scrunched to one side in annoyance. It would have been easier if they were just open but it was kind of fun having to get creative about this. The woman was right, the gates wouldn't be locked if there wasn't someone or something of importance behind it. Veering to the side with her two accomplices the girl watched as none of the windows were unlocked, a shame. When Yukina looked up Oriel did so too, to see the doors that were most likely open and to see if her clones were out of sight. Which they were, the must have been a bit further back. Using her magic affinity the girl would have them hand from a ledge til it was okay for them to come closer. Sneaking them around was fun as well as what the small party were doing now.

"I have an idea."

Said Oriel. She took a deep breath afterwards, bringing both her closed hands to the center of her chest then pushing them down to the ground, opening them as she did so. Underneath the three a gust of wind would push them up to the balcony. Being used to the travels using wind Oriel jumped off the gust to land on the balcony, her hands to her sides would move forward with her forcing the other two softly onto the balcony. With that the movement of wind would stop with a cooling breeze blowing through the three, it was quite hot so it would be refreshing. Letting Yukina go forward she would give reasoning,

"You check if they're open, I'll keep a look out for a second."

The white mage walked over to the edge of the balcony, looking out to the rest of the town, up, then down to her clones. They brought themselves over the gates, Oriel giving them a soft landing to where the three were once standing. She had to keep an eye on their distance, for the sake of keeping them a secret and for the fact that if she went too far they would disappear. She'd reveal them to Yukina eventually should they be needed inside the palace.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Yukina Tarka on October 10th 2013, 6:29 am

As Oriel lifted them up to the balcony with some kind of wind manipulation, Yukina couldn't help but smile. Etzolix sure knew how to pick them. The cooling breeze was a nice touch, but ultimately resulted in the girl hastily pulling down the skirt of her dress, lest her little slave companion might see more than he bargained for. She nodded, the girl wanted to keep watch - which, Yukina thought, was kind of cute. They were beyond the point where they were most likely to be caught, they were already up on the balcony and basically inside after all. But she wouldn't question it, Oriel had already proven herself useful.

Approaching the door with her boy slave by her side, Yukina gripped the door handle and gave it a gentle tug. Click. The mechanism inside flicked open, and the girl pulled the door open and turned back to Oriel.

"If you're all done being the lookout we can go inside," she said, unable to keep the sarcasm from her tone. She would have to work on that, should this whole 'beloved leader' thing work out.

Not waiting for Oriel to reply, Yukina entered the palace slowly and with some degree of restraint. She knew there would be someone inside... she just wasn't sure who, or what, it would be yet. Heartless she could deal with, she knew about them and for the most part, most of them left her alone. Nobodies were a little trickier, but still, manageable. Humans were the worst, so unpredictable and emotional. She was one of them, but she still detested them for the most part.

"Where to look first..." She said, partly to herself but also to her companions. She looked around the room they found themselves in currently, it appeared to be a bedroom, perhaps a guest bedroom, and seemed to bare little consequence. Perhaps the throne room, or the offices, might offer some more information. She frowned, waiting to see if either of the other two had any more ideas to share.

Hearing the door click then open a smile streaked across Oriel's face. She let the woman go in before she turned back around. Her hand rose as the clones did, each of them rising to the balcony then grabbing on to the ledge to hang there for the moment. Oriel giving them a stare to make sure they were all in place. The girl then turned around to enter the palace, following behind Yukina, though now she was floating just above the floor just to be even more quiet than she really needed to be.

Looking around the bedroom Oriel found it unnecessary that there were so many decorations and fine sheets when there were citizens out there starving. Royalty wasn't something she understood in parts like these, being born into a leader seemed very strange to her, lost in her thoughts of monarchy Oriel clicked back into reality. Yukina asking where to look somewhat rhetorically the girl would give a response.

"I'm assuming that if this is a bedroom.."

She spoke quietly as she moved closer to the bedroom door. No footsteps were made only the movement of here to there. The girl looked through a small peep hole in the door before she turned to face Yukina and the little boy.

"Out there will be a hallway. This palace is quite big so it might take awhile to find the throne room, a library or maybe even an office."

The words that came out of her mouth gave the assumption that Yukina was gathering information about this place. Those would be the places Oriel thought she would find these things, if she wanted the throne there was nobody on it but perhaps guards waiting there, for some reason.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Yukina Tarka on October 10th 2013, 7:51 am

Yukina followed Oriel to the doorway, standing idly by as the girl looked through the peephole. She didn't expect there to be armed guards but... something. If there wasn't someone inside, or something inside, surely the common-folk would've ransacked the place by now? There was enough wealth in here to sustain a heap of them, for a little while at least. No... she was right. There must be something inside. Placing her hand on the hilt of her weapon, completely out of place on her waist with the rest of her outfit, it was an unfortunate necessity. She brushed passed Oriel, throwing the closed umbrella to Monkey before opening the door...

And then, it happened. Nobodies appeared, about five or six of them. Dusks. She swiftly stepped into the hallway, preferring the wider space as opposed to the closed in bedroom, and then to the side. She hoped that Oriel would follow, even though she wasn't even sure the girl had any combat proficiency, she had weapons at least. That much she knew from their brief encounter in the Land of Dragons. Unsheathing her weapon, she turned to face her two companions.

"If either of you can fight, then now would be a good time to show it." She said, with a slight huff. She could handle these by herself, she was sure, but it would be a hell of a lot easier with a little assistance. The Nobodies began to circle, if Oriel didn't enter the battle soon, it would begin without her.

A Whole New World (Of Possibility) Empty Re: A Whole New World (Of Possibility)

Post by Oriel on October 10th 2013, 8:13 am

This was it. Perhaps the reason there was no ruler. It was definitely the reason that the citizens wouldn't dare come near the palace to take its treasures. The girl didn't know exactly what nobodies were but she could tell they weren't friendly at least. Moving out into the hallway Oriel pulled out her sais from her belt's loops. Her clones would move onto the balcony, hiding next to the door so no one could see them. She wouldn't use them just yet, maybe on a bigger opponent or something when it came to it. Oriel had trained since the last time they met so this time running wasn't an option.

Slicing through midair horizontally it would have looked stupid, though the slice of air that left a cut in three of the dusk's bodies would make sense of it. With no time to waste the girl flew forward into one of the nobodies, as she did so she pushed her arm forward creating a gust of wind that would send one of them flying meters backwards giving the two time and space to defeat the others. Once this was done Oriel sliced both her blades down a nobody, it's arms becoming barely attached. With that she sent another double bladed slash across it, the nobody returning to nothingness.

Another one would be onto Oriel straight away though, slapping her back rather hard leaving a kind of whip like bruise. A small cringe came out of the girl's face that quickly returned to a calm facade. She turned to the nobody, her hand swinging to send a blast of air at it pushing the creature back, letting go of her sai it flew at the nobody, piercing it's center then coming back to Oriel before it got out of her air manipulation range. Catching the sai she turned to Yukina briefly.

"Is this what you thought would be here?"

She said before turning back to the dusk. The girl swung both her blades up, sending wind towards the nobody, thin and sharp as the blades that gave the movement cutting through it's body a bit while sending it up into the air. Her hands high up in the air would slam back downwards causing the nobody to smash to the ground. Floating over to the dusk Oriel looked at it with a kind of sad feeling as she stabbed the middle of its body, it turning to nothing around her blade. The girl looked up to see where Yukina was at with the rest of the nobodies. There were three left for her, one making its way back over possibly after the gust of wind flew it backwards.
