After the ashes... (open) Empty After the ashes... (open)

Post by Kasturi on April 4th 2012, 1:58 am

It was morning, and a young man, about twenty or so, walked with his companion into the Castle Town from the edges of the forest. They stand out a little among the village crowds; the brown haired one is attired in overly simple black shirt and grey pants, while his black haired friend in elaborate leather chest guard and an elegant scimitar to match. The townsfolk took notice and some backed away in caution of these strangers, particularly the later one. The two unknown men walked on towards Beast Castle.

"Maybe you shouldn't have brought your sword." said the first, "I think it makes them nervous."
"I'm a swordsman and not a mage, Kast." said the second briskly
"Fair enough Mu, but remember, we're trying to make amends here," replied the first,
"You are, not me. And you wouldn't do it until I forced you to."
The mage laughed a little on this.

It was true however, that he had intended to do this a long time ago but was too lazy. His strict no-nonsense of a companion pressured him till he couldn't handle it.
So now, he's finally here, as they stopped in front of the castle entrance. The gates was open, oddly, so they went pass the empty courtyard. The air was light, and the heavens seems nicely bright. Kast wouldn't have chosen any other better day, but he was tensed like the stone statue of the courtyard.

The castle doors were guarded by two heavily armed men. They gave some hand gesture greeting foreign to Kast and asked his business.
"I wish to have an audience with the lord of this castle. I'm Kasturi, a mage from-... far off lands." he added quickly and importantly, thinking 'another world' or 'Traverse Town' might not make sense to them. His companion face-palmed silently.
"Please allow my entrance, -and my, err... escort."
The guards paused, likely because of the weird speech. One went inside, while the other asked the two visitors to wait and stood by the doors. Kast waited, then paced around quietly while whistling a tune to ease his boredom.

(OOC: Does this count as dead if nothing has happened for only 17 days?)

Rex walked to the castle for no particular reason. He felt like going there for some reason and realised that this place looks like hollow bastion, for a second he was reminded of his sister. A tear made it`s way past his tear duds somehow but it was completely hidden by the black hooded cloak that hid his red hair, yellow eyes and saddened expression.

He sees someone ahead, they look bored so Rex walked forward to start a conversation. Hey what`s up? As he waited for a response he didn`t realise that he was standing next to a wanted poster with his face on.

Post by Kasturi on April 23rd 2012, 1:21 am

(OOC: nope, it shud be 3 weeks or a month, i think..)

A young teenager had came towards the castle doors and greeted Kast and Muphrid. Kast noted how the boy's clothes seemed different to the natives.

"Hey there, just waiting to see the man of this castle. But he seemed to be either utterly busy or missing." Kast continued in a whisper, "Either way we're getting in one way or another. Wanna join?"

Kast then turn before the teen could answer. He approached the last guard waiting on the castle door,
"Hey, good sir. Can you please check in to see if we're would be able to meet his most honorable anytime soon. Its getting long, and we can come other days if the king isn't free today."
The guard seemed to hesitate for a moment, then reluctantly walked in clanking his suit armor and spear.

The mage smirked, then went around to the wall of the castle doors. With a burst of spiraling air, he launched himself above and onto the battlement. He looked down over the edge and offered a hand to pull up anyone.
"Kast, what are you doing?" Muphrid asked,
"Doing what I originally had planned, return what I took."
Kast companion looked away, clearly not wanting any part of it. Kast turned to the boy,
"This guys no fun. So, wanna join me? We won't cause any trouble. Just sneak in and sneak out. Plus, you're already wanted by the looks of it."
The mage nodded towards the wanted poster on the wall.
"Rule 1: don't take what you can't return. Rule 2: don't get caught. So, how about it?" Kast outstretched his hand, but give the teenager time to think.

Rex said nothing, simply letting actions speak louder than words. He ran towards the battlement, shifted his weight back, and jumped towards the battlement, and leant back in the air 90*, but instead of falling, Rex ran up the wall jumped by the mages side. He glanced down and let the other follow.

"Haha,.. looks like you got good skills, you'll make a fine infiltrator."
The mage gave lead across the battlements and to a nearby glass window of the second floor. Peeking through the clear glass, there's a corridor covered by red carpet and lined with statues and paintings. No guards.

The mage took out a little metal wire, and with magic he mold it in his hands like clay and formed a thin flat hook. The hook easily pass through the narrow crevice between the window panes, and easily does it push the latch lock, leaving the unlocked window to swing open effortlessly.

Kast climbed inside, and went across the corridor to a heavy-looking wooden door. As though been done thousand times, the mage deftly shaped a crude key from the metal instrument, and within seconds, able to walk into the room. The room was a study. As he placed a book to one of the bookshelves, he turned to ask the teenager,
"I still have not your name. Who are you? You seem to look like from another world."

Rex looked around What`s your name? He picked out a book that he recognised and started to read while waiting for a response.

"Kast Firaz, coincidentally I'm also from Destiny Island, but now staying at Traverse Town. Been there before?" the mage called Kast leaned onto a study table, his eyes were lackluster with little laziness and maybe boredom, but nevertheless he seems to grin as though enjoying himself.

"Say, why were you wanted? Did you came here while running away?" the man asked with same lazy tone.

No Haven`t been there before Kast. Rex was a bit taken back by Kast`s question but he answered non-theless That`s abit personal. ]I`m wanted for damages caused while fighting some guy called Cool. He was going to stop there but he decided to add to his response But I`m not the one who did it it was him He pointed towards a red figure who was invisible to anyone other than Rex himself, so he would look like a fool in Kast`s eyes.

After the ashes... (open) Empty Re: After the ashes... (open)

Post by Kenos on April 28th 2012, 11:07 am

Soft, white clouds drifted carelessly above the Beast's Castle, just hundred's of feet above Kast's and Rex's position. One felt a sort of blissful peace by staring at the sky; however, it was soon to be disrupted.

A slight humming reverbrated through the air, followed by, if one listened closely enough, a high-pitched whine. A Gummi ship of standard-issue rocketed throughout the atmosphere, bursting through each cloud that was in its way. It was almost a comical sight: a trail of clouds, each with the same-sized hole grown in it.

The two passengers of the vessel were two teenage humans, both the opposite gender of the other. The girl, who was almost sixteen years of age but looked to be a pretty seventeen, was wearing a deep purple hoodie and a smirk on her face. She had just insulted the boy, who was also wearing a hoodie, only his was the darkest of blacks. He replied to the insult by giving her a playful shove, which she soon returned. He was glad to finally be back with her.

The friends looked through the glass of the cockpit to viee the landscape below. The castle, a magnificent structure on its own, was surrounded by lush, green forests. But what caught the boy's attention was the sight of two figures leaping atop the battlements of the bastion. Using the zoom finction of the screen, Kenos locked onto the first of the acrobats. To his surprise, he recognized Kasturi Firaz immediately.

"Selene...I'm sorry, but we're going to have to do our trip another day," he said as the girl gave him a surprised look, "There's...someone I need to talk to."

Selene stared at him challengingly. "And why can't I come with you?"

He shooj his head, pointing at the two below him. "They're too far/high for us to catch up to. You're going to have to drop me off. Besides," he added, "it may help with my memory."

Her expression immediately softened. While most of Kenos' memory had returned to him, much of the pieces were still lost. "...Okay. But remember, you owe me.

Selene silently took the controls as her partner nodded and removed himself from the seat. She angled the ship downards and slowed its speed, maneuvering it towards the window Kast had opened. The boy opened the emergency hatch, smiled at the girl reassuringly, and jumped.

As he fell through the window, the teenager bent his legs to reduce the force of impact, then turned it into a roll. He stretched and cracked his back afterwards, making sure his body was fully functional, then shut the window after him.

It didn't take long for him to locate the two; after a little snooping around the cooridoors, Kenos found Kast and some kid in some study. Unfortunately, he unwittingly walked into the general direction Rex was pointing at.

"Sneaking into castles again, Kast?" he quipped, before hearing the other guy say "it was him." Taken aback, he turned to Rex. "What are you talking about?"

Kast coughed aloud when he heard Cool's name. He knew the keyblader, who have a penchant for getting into trouble, either as a hero, or sometimes as the troublemaker. The mage then realized he might have asked something he shouldn't have, from someone he just met.

"That's tough, sorry to hear that. I also can't return back to the Island, though for more subtle reason."

Rex then pointed and blamed it on 'him'. Kast looked and there was a teenager of black hair and black clothes.
"Sneaking into castles again, Kast?"
Thunder strikes from the depths of his synapses, as he realized who the greatly familiar person is. His face cast down to the ground, wrought with disbelief. He couldn't hear anything else through the shock.
"What a shame... SO IT WAS YOU!!"
Blue fire burst in balls of flame, around both the magician's fists. Azure reflections danced playfully in the iris of the man's blank dead stare.
"Care to explain yourself?"

(Sorry guys, got caught up with stuff. Btw, nice intro Kenos, )

[OOC: Don't worry about it, and thanks ^^]

Recognition flashed through the mage's eyes, causing the Twilight Towner to grin. He was glad to have friends that remembered him, even though he went for a while not remembering anything at all. However, just as Kenos saw the recognition in his friend's eyes, he saw it transition just as quickly into shock then anger and finally apathy. Kast yelled, accusing him of a crime he did not know and demanding an explanation. Blue fire burst from his hands, exuberating heat within the room. Kenos saw the same heat in the other man’s face, although his was a cold, distant heat.

The boy jumped back, dropping his staff as he raised his hands in the air. "How about you explain to me what the hell you're accusing me of first?" he responded, staring the older male straight in the eye. "I just thought you’d like to know what happened at the Festival of Hearts.” He grimaced, remembering the day of his first mission on Radiant Garden. The two had speculated on the Festival; Kast predicting a monstrous horror, and Kenos mentioning that he'd have to have amnesia before attending it. Oh, if only they knew how true their premonitions would become.

The other being present, a boy unknown to Kenos, quickly came to Kenos' aid and said that it wasn't him that committed the crime, but another; this person he pointed to. But Rex's finger fell on empty air, and the teenager could not see to whom he was directing their attentions to. The sixteen year-old gazed at him quizzically.

After the ashes... (open) Empty Re: After the ashes... (open)

Post by Kasturi on May 2nd 2012, 11:11 pm

When Kenos had released his staff and raised his hands as sign of peaceful intention, something in the mage's head had clicked back on. Gradually his tense muscle relaxed a little, and his mind regained some functioning mental faculty. As Kenos spoke, it took Kast a while to figure it out. Almost at same time, Rex had said something else, worsening his already cluttered mind.

"Festival of Hearts?" the man rephrased the foreign but familiar name. His eyes widened a split second as a great revelation had dawned upon him.

Kenos isn't the 'guy'!!

Rex is pointing to midair!!

My hands is on FIRE!!

Festival of Hearts... ...that's ... ...what's that?!!

The confused magician dispelled the flames and covered his face with both his hands, bumping back onto a study table as he leaned thereon. For short while he remained silent. His hands opened and fell back, and he sighed, before slowly raised his head to face his two young friends,

"Very sorry about that, not always I get carried away." the mage asked apologetically to Rex and Kenos, with a calmer voice,
"Kenos, nice to see you old friend. You look different, slightly. Festival of Hearts, what happened?", Kast had remembered it; their first mission, its been almost half a year since, but its still there in his heart like an heavy black stain. He wondered what could've had happened.

Sighing in relief, the teenage bent down and retrieved his staff as he answered the mage. "Thanks; it's good to see you, too. I've been through a lot since we last saw each other. I guess I should tell you that I lost my memory not too long after our last mission." Here he paused, thinking back to that time. It was a puzzle to even him. "I'm not exactly sure how that happened; I haven't gotten all of it back. I remember most of my life, though."

Before he could continue, however, Rex began to exclaim as he continued to point to Kenos' primary attribute: nothing. He was apparently conversing with this unseen being and, seeing as neither seemed a threat to him, the staff-wielder ignored the boy and continued to speak to Kasturi. "Lost and confused, I returned to the place I had last written in my journal: Radiant Garden. It was night, and I ran into some interesting characters: a boy name Xoen and a girl named Chastity. Both were about my age, but I think Xoen was older. Anyways, we ran into some Heartless Soldiers. We began to battle them, but they ran away. I thought something was a little off, but I my mind wasn't in its best state. We gave chase, and they led us to a giant Heartless, who appeared to be controlling or commanding them. I believe it was called a Darkside, or something like that."

Kenos shuddered, remembering the monstrosity. Even though the creature had been vanquished, it still returned to haunt him in his sleep. "That wasn't a normal Heartless. It had a....a contraption attached to it. It was like a tank, with huge tubing pumping this blue-ish liquid into its body. You were right not to be there. But that wasn't the strangest part. The guy...Xoen...it looked like he knew it. He mentioned it escaping from some 'professor'. I definitely think that both were related to that room you found in the castle." As he finished his narrative, images flashed through the youngster's mind: a blood-stained table, a flyer for the Festival of Hearts, the cyborg Darkside, and lastly, the strange boy's face.

Kenos suddenly snapped out of his trance. "Sorry. So, what's up with you?"

Post by Kasturi on May 10th 2012, 11:55 pm

Kast was a little distracted by Rex's dialogue, with what seems to be to no one; none that the mage could see. He then turned his attention towards Kenos, and listened to his story intently with a thoughtful expression. The slight nervous flickers of his if not calm facial features hides the fact that he too, feels very deeply for what had happened, though he tries not to show it.

Kast pushed aside the complicated thoughts and feelings, for awhile.
"I've been on my usual research trips," he replied Kenos's question with a gesture around the room, "Trespassing, break-ins, unlawful borrowings... and a healthy dose of tough brotherly affections with the guards. Normal stuff." the mage laugh a little.

In his heart, he actually regretted not coming. "I guess there's no casualty is there?" he asked hopefully, "Darkside... and this professor. To involve the people, such danger. Xoen... interesting name." he thought out loud, then realized he might've neglected his other companion.

"Rex, my friend, what was that you were talking about before? I might've not heard you prope-" Kast cut off his voice mid sentence and paused as though to hear something.
Lightly at first, but growing quickly, was steady tremors of footsteps on the floor, followed by some larger thumping at intervals.
"The guards, I presume... and seems they've brought a few gargoyles with them."

The mage calmly turned to the Twilight Towner, "Kenos, I really want to hear more about what happened, -and you haven't told me what was it that happened to you. Do you mind stopping by Traverse Town? We can meet at the clock tower,"
he then turned to the other teenager; Rex "If we make it out of this alive, would you care to join us? Traverse Town is quite safe, and there's not much guards."
In truth, there is still much he wanted to discuss with Kenos, and much he wanted to know about Rex (and his sudden peculiar behavior), but time is short.
The footsteps of the castle soldiers are growing closer by the second.

The wind mage seemed understanding and attentive while listening to his narrative, but it was apparent that his words were troubling him as well. "I guess there's no casualty is there?" he asked, hope in his voice, before muttering something unintelligible to himself.

Kenos simply shook his head. "We had plenty of help. Let's see...Mystic, chief of Destiny Isles was there, as well as a Nobody named.. Mexma." A question came to the boy's mind as soon as he said the name: What's with all the "X"s in everybody's names? "Surprisingly, Chastity seemed to have disappeared. But all of us survived. I later encountered--"

The teenager was cut off as Kast mentioned hearing something. He soon heard it himself after straining his ears. "The guards, I presume... and seems they've brought a few gargoyles with them." He informed them, before inviting both Kenos and Rex to meet him at the clock tower of Traverse Town.

Rex readily agreed, and asked what they should do. Kenos furrowed his brow in thought. If he was by himself, he could simply activate his armor's effect and go unnoticed. But Kast and Rex were here.... "I think we can take them," he responded confidently, turning to both. He knew Kast was a competent mage who could take care of himself, although he never actually saw him in action himself, but he was unsure about Rex. He seemed a little...unstable.

Rex replied the invitation with a confirming question, and though a little confused at first, Kast took it as a yes. Rex then asked how to deal with the guards, and Kenos had responded to the outcome in a genuine positive spirit and confidence, a part of him the mage had never the chance to see before. Everyone was ready to survive, calm in the face of the odds. The mage was glad, even thankful to have companions of such strong souls and ardor.

The wooden door was closed, and the footsteps fell quiet at the opposite side. The mage braced himself. Though what came first was a strong shout by a man, loud and clear that would even rattle the dead in their graves,
"SURRENDER NOW THIEF!! WE KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE!! WE HEARD YOUR VOICE SULLEN HIS MAJESTY THE KING'S PURE RESIDENCE!! SURRENDER NOW OR FOR THE HONOR OF OUR KING, I, THE GREAT AND HUMBLE SERGEANT OF -" the grueling deafening shouts rambled on for a comparably an hour's time by what seemed to be this person's list of accomplishments and other self-promoting jargon. However, it provided a perfect cover for the trespassers to discuss.

Kast cringed when he realized it was his voice that they were mentioning.
"Guess they heard me from earlier, haha," Kast said to Rex and Kenos, controlling his voice so only them can hear, "But seems they don't know there's three of us. I'll go first, and we will have a surprise chance to knockout as many before making our escape." Kast smiled, making the plan sound very simple, while hoping silently no lives will be taken.

Indeed, the fact they used the words 'thief' and 'you're', coupled with that only the mage had shouted so loud, implicated the guards thought they're outnumbering a lone person, and they've must felt totally confident now, which is splendid.

They would be expecting an attack, a resistance to bail out by the thief, so the mage has to think a way they least expect. The first will face most risk, while the others is covered by the element of surprise. The man felt it was only fair for others and himself that he'd go.

The wooden door suddenly thumped loudly and great shockwaves flow through the room as the door cracked splinters in consecutive hammering by an unseen gigantic fist.

"Let's get ready." Kast took out a large rhombus shaped metal ore from his pouch and in burning orange light he summoned it into a shape of a spear. It was simple but elegantly slim in shape, and still glowed like hot metal. He poised it straight towards the breaking door.

(OOC: I'm back guys, sorry for the wait :)

Kast said: Let's get ready. To which Rex replyed: Affirmative sir and gave a mock salute before bracing himself in a fighting stance.

A large voice boomed through the door, giving the teenager a little start. The voice rattled through the door and to the depths of his person, deeply unsettling the boy. He attempted to cover up by rubbing the back of his head, but neither of his companions appeared to notice. Relieved, Kenos turned his attention to Kast, who was taking advantage of the ruckus to speak to them in a low tone. He outlined a simple plan, encouraging them all with a confident smile. "Let's get ready."

The mage then took out what appeared to be a chunk of rock and, heating it up with a magical warmth, formed it into a spear like it was silly putty. Kenos glanced at it with a look of admiration and awe; his skills surpassed anything he had seen before. Rex prepared himself also, putting himself in an offensive stance without drawing any weapons. Having his weapon already drawn, Kenos gave it a spin before going into a fighting stance as well. He flipped up his hood for [its] effect, waiting for the Kasturi to make his move. The guards slammed against the wooden door, causing it to crack and groan in response. A splinter of wood flew off of the entrance, lodging itself on Kenos' brow. He flicked it off in annoyance.

After the ashes... (open) Empty Re: After the ashes... (open)

The door was breaking fast, and probably in ten seconds time they'ed be swarming into the room like a pack of hungry wolves. Kast gave himself a few seconds of thought and his eyes fell on a white cast marble of a person's head over near the bookshelves. The corner of his lips lift up mischievously as he went to retrieve it.

"Sorry Mr. Head, I might have to use you," he whispered to the ball of marble like a small watermelon held up in his left hand. The man faced the door, with its hinges slowly breaking off, and he summon blue flames around his spear. By counting the intervals, Kast correctly guessed the next hit, at which he tossed the marble head to the door and slammed with the fiery spear. The door exploded backwards in flames, throwing chaffs and splinters and burst thick white smoke that flooded the corridor. The study remained virtually untouched with a little directed help with air magic.

Simultaneously Kast went outside and disappeared into the thick smog of coughing and blind confusion.
"Sergeant!! What's happening?"
"Sergeant! I can't see!"
"I DON'T KNOW MEN BUT KEEP YOUR GUARD U-UGHH!!!"
"Sergeant! ARGH!!"
"What IS GOING ON?!?"
"Look! Look there by the window!"
At the other side of the smoky corridor, a shadowy figure casts a silhouette against the light, backed by the shimmering glass panes.
All the guards' attention was averted from the study room door. All is in place, and all his hope lies with Rex and Kenos, and their expertise.
