Details Remnant of the parasitic sword known as Clarent that once bound itself to Alexander to feed from his non-existent soul. The poor creature eventually starved, leaving its carcass entwined with Alexander's bones. The five-foot chain festered within Alexander's body until they touched his mind and found new purpose tethering him to the sword Purtandi.
Ability:

One Third- This chain is considered part of Alexander's arm and is connected to both Alexander and Purtandi. (Syn 1)

Pulley- This chain is taken in and out of the arm up to five feet. (Syn 5)

After some consideration, this may be a thing. However, it will only be one chain per slot.

I feel at some point my love of being wordy may have made me muddle this by not using them well, making it appear to be something else.

This is essentially a rope tied to two objects- the sword, and its anchoring point in Alexander's arm. The chain only comes out because I throw the sword and the chain extends for five feet. The only thing I had imagined doing with it more than that functionally is perhaps drawing it back into my arm, specifically to facilitate Pertandi melting into it. Given that, would a better question be how fast it retracts since its extension speed is based on how hard I can throw Purtandi?

I assumed extending by five feet meant that shot out by itself. In that case, the effect itself should be the chain being taken out of the arm and returning to the arm, similar to summoning or your other synthesis with chains.
