Yes, I know.
[yelling]PINKY! For the last time, stop being Moderatorz! You trying to get more posts and we is gonna sic Celox on you again! Don't make us get her to yell at you again! >:O [/yelling]
Like last time wasn't enough? ;D

Okay, so Celox forgot ONE little thing in her Crash Course....I'm not going to commit suicide and post on the crash course. I enjoy my life.

ABOUT Non-Player Characters. (N.P.C)

NPC's ((non-player characters)) are used for Role Playing effectiveness, and give a more round attraction to a set story plot.
((In other words, it makes things more fun for the players.))
NPC's can be people, like a merchant, or a monster. ((Example: A summon can be a N.P.C, or if your character has a split personality, that can count too.))

NPC's are controlled by the player who introduces them. For you, I've placed an example. The NCP's lines will be in green.

Pinky stopped, looking down at a large footprint in the Agrahbah sands. She stooped down, examining closer.
As her mind raced on possible suspects, a tall man, dressed in a turban, walked by. Noticing the Guardian on the ground, he lowered his back, to make eye contact with her.

((Here the NPC is acting, and being introduced by the player.))
myself wrote:

"Excuse me, Miss, but what is it you do?"

Rose nearly toppled over at the unexpected arrival, but regained herself.
"I am looking for the one who rules this world."

NPC's widen the range of a RP setting. ((they make things more understandable, and more like the actual game.)) They make things more interesting and realistic so that members can take interests in the session.

WHAT NOT TO DO WITH YOUR N.P.C

Like Celox explains in the RP Crash Course, stupid crap just isn't an okay thing. Lemme give you an example.

this isn't really Lenneth's post, it's an example. wrote:

Lenneth entered into a walkway in the World that Never Was that had a Nobody on it. It looked at him and didn't say anything. Then Lenneth fell off the railing. The Nobody said: "I got you!" and helped him up. Lenneth thanked the Nobody and moved on with his fictional life.

Celox would, first of all, murder Lenneth for the lack of description, but that's not the point. If YOU'RE GOING TO USE an N.P.C at least make it LOOK realistic. (For the game.) Nobodies....especially NOT lesser Nobodies like Dusks, don't talk. They can only speak to other Nobodies, and that's about it. Secondly, there was absolutely no purpose for that Nobody being there, minus the fact it lived there. IF AN N.P.C doesn't SERVE A PURPOSE, YOU'RE WRONG. Of course, the acception would be crowds of people, but that adds to either suspense/mood of the scene....

EXAMPLE OF A GOOD USER OF N.P.C
Nobody Trickster wrote:

To his side, Trickster summoned his 501st Legion of Samurai Nobodies, who circled around Pinky, viciously waving their gleaming katana in arcs. Their slender silver bodies mirrored his own sleek armor, and while Rose watched in horror, the Twilight Samurai smiled.

"It's your choice," he told her, "Fight like a man, or die like a dog."

The Samurai Nobodies began to thrash Rose around like a stuffed rag doll, cutting and hacking away at the defenseless and very foolish Water Guardian until she was a bleeding, dying heap on the ground. Her crimson rivers stained the emerald grass as if some sinister creature had taken a red painbrush to the land.

(Okay, that might not have been the exact post, but I'm recalling that from the back of my mind. That speaking line is right though.)

NOTICE how Trickster uses his N.P.C army to inflict damage and make the fight more interesting, as well as giving him a evil and unfair advantage. (One of those few things I happen to admire about him.)

You can make your own N.P.C army (don't copy people,) if you fancy it, or stick an N.P.C wherever it is you want! Use them to help move along the story and provide more diversity to your RPs! A wise RPer will use them as helpful allies, or foes for your enemies, providing a wide range of possibilities for anyone.

Have Fun!
