Introduction

Alright, here's one major thing about Element Mastering. This will be more advanced, and delved into details. I'm sure you've read from Lenny about the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Elements, as well as Learning Elements, and of course conflicting elements, but it's time we went into details, to idiot-proof this. First off, I'd like to show an example of general stupidity when it comes to elements.

The Example

Chaos wrote:
He turned back towards Evan. "So... what brings you here? I simply come here for the enjoyment of ridding this world of some of the evil that its already engulfed in. I've battled so many of... them, that I actually nearly mastered the element of Darkness myself." he smiled and chuckled quietly again.

Can you spot what's wrong with this, kids? Well lemme explain. Chaos, is a character with Light and Darkness. He calls himself a Death Knight yet seems to lean towards Darkness, and YET has so much light in him. That and the fact he's a relatively new character brings something unrealistic. Wanna know what and why? Let's start with one major, major easy to see mistake that he had made. "I've battled so many of... them, that I actually nearly mastered the element of Darkness myself." That was the part. Well, number one, you have Light. That means you have halved mastery of Light and Darkness due to conflicting elements, as they weaken each other. But you get half the mastery of Twilight as well. Secondly, nobody here can TRULY master the element of Darkness, unless their epicly powerful, like Biscuits and Lenny. A new character, let alone someone with Light AND Darkness, would be incredibly weak in that both elements at the start. Secondly, you don't master elements just by battling Heartless and stuff. Yeah. That's god moddy, no, hardly any character development at all. Also, take note. Your alignment, elemental mastery and everything decides a lot of stuff. Don't be a character of light element, be a good guy and yet you act like you're all super dark and evil and scary and shit. Which is to say, please have some common sense when you RP. You don't see Sephiroth doing ballet and prancing around in a skirt with a basket of flowers do you...

Combined Elements, and how they work, Especially Light, Darkness and Twilight.

So now, it's time I talk about combined elements, a good example being Light, Darkness and Twilight. Alright. Let's begin, shall we? Let's say, you choose your primary and secondary element as Light and Darkness. This means you have halved mastery of Light and Darkness, and halved mastery of Twilight. Why is this so? Because Twilight in itself is also an element. "So what about Light Darkness and Twilight, then?" It should be obvious. With this, you get full mastery of Light, Darkness and Twilight at the expense of having a good tertiary element. Light, Darkness, Tertiary Element and then Twilight as learning would result in something like 75% mastery. Get it now? Hope you do. Same for elemental combination, like Molten for example. You could have Fire and Earth, with 100% mastery for Fire and Earth, and combine them for a 50% mastery of Molten. Choosing Molten as your tertiary element would result in 100% for everything, again at the cost of having a third element. How about, Light, Fire, Wind and then Water as your learning element, then? Fire, would be weakened to 75%. Water, will of course be weakened to half, along with the limits of Learning Elements, as well. What about, say, Light, Fire, Twilight and then wind? Well. You'd have 75% for both Light and Twilight. Replace wind with Darkness and you'd still get 75% each, along with the limitations on Darkness cause in this case it's a learning element.

Spell Making, damages and other stuff.

Another thing is spell making. "How do I describe spells so that their easier to approve?" Well. Glad you asked. I'm sure I can help you get spells approved easier, unless you aren't reading, and that you're stupid like Mohon. *Cough* Alright. Let's begin!

Q:"Help! I can't describe damage well enough! I don't know what's a suitable cost!"

A: Alright. Let's use a basic, spell from the KH game. I'm sure you know what's a Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 spell. Level 1 spell, is pretty much Fire, Blizzard and Thunder. Level 2 is Fira, Blizzara and Thundara. Level 3s are Firaga, Blizzaga and Thundaga. At least these are the BASIC of the basic. Usually 10 MPs are for level 1s, 20 for 2, 30 for 3, but that's not always the case, isn't it? Another thing you have to take note of it of course, various effects. Does it burn the enemy, give a shock to the enemy? Or freeze the enemy? What's the size of the projectile, the area affected, what happens on impact, after impact, speed of the projectile, lots of things. Make sure you mention all of them. The chances of a status effect? Stuff like these. What about downsides to balance the cost out? With these in mind, you should be able to decide on a good enough spell. Here's what I do, in case you're interested.

Step 1 : Plan out the spell damages. The 'skeleton' structure of the spell in your mind. First, decide on your elements, then your damage. After that, set the cost based on the damage.

Step 2 :Then, work out the details of the spell, as in what actually happens, what you shoot out, or what you do. Status effects and everything.

Step 3 : Minute details. Speed, size of projectiles, amount of projectiles. In how many posts does this happen. What happens if opponent does this? What happens if he does that? What happens if the barrier is broken and the damage exceeds the amount the barrier is supposed to defend? For example.

Step 4 : Don't be afraid, get veteran users or mods/admins to look at your spell, as they are more experienced, before posting it. Don't worry about getting flamed, if you're sincere, polite and patient about it they won't eat you up. I'm sure they're happy to help. Unless you act like a prick or a stupid idiot 900% of the time and constantly bicker with the mods and admins when they ARE right.

Thank you forte for posting this just one thing to add to a the bottom step 4

indeed we will be willing to HELP you make something before posting it but remember only to HELP not make things for you, thats up to your own creative skills. By helping we would make it fair for other users when you use it, its up to your how it helps your OWN character.

As well any mods, co-admins or admins that look at your stuff BEFORE you post it will not be approved my them. just kinda makes it unfair if you think about it. We help you make it so why grant you permission right away? that would just be favoritism, plus there may be something we missed that needs to be corrected. So remember if you ask one of us staff members for help with such creation we CAN NOT approve it for you.

thank you and have fun
